Chapter 1ZXSDR R8872A ReplacementThis procedure describes how to replace the ZXSDR R8872A by taking pole-mountedinstallation as an example.

The ZXSDR R8872A replacement takes about 30 minutes. During replacement, allservices running on the ZXSDR R8872A are interrupted.

Prerequisite

l You have acquired the hardware configuration of the faulty ZXSDR R8872A, andprepared a new ZXSDR R8872A with the same specifications as the faulty one.

l You have recorded the information of all cable connections to the faulty ZXSDRR8872A, such as the interfaces to which the optical fibers and antenna feederjumpers are connected. This information is used for correctly reconnecting the cablesto the new ZXSDR R8872A after the replacement.

Steps

1. Stop operating the equipment.

a. Inform the OMC administrator that the ZXSDR R8872A will be replaced, and askthe administrator to block the cells corresponding to this site.

b. Power off the faulty ZXSDR R8872A.

2. Remove the faulty equipment.

a. Wear an ESDwrist strap, and ensure that the ESDwrist strap is grounded securely.

If no ESD wrist strap is available or no appropriate earthing point is available forgrounding the ESD wrist strap, wear antistatic gloves instead.

b. Disconnect all related cables from the faulty equipment, and stick a label onthe disconnected end of each cable. For how to disconnect the cables, refer toChapter 2 Cable Replacement.

c. Turn the adjustable wrench in counterclockwise direction to loosen the fasteningscrew in the middle, to remove the RRU chassis from the mounting ear groove ofthe pole-mounted fixing clamp, see Figure 1-1.

3. Install the equipment by referring to the ZXSDR R8872A Macro Remote Radio UnitHardware Installation.

a. Install the new chassis.

b. According to the information marked on cable labels, reinstall the removed cables.

4. Make power-on checks.

During equipment power-on, check whether the indicators are displayed in correctstatuses, and perform the corresponding operation according to different situations. For the status description of each indicator on the ZXSDRR8872A, refer to the ZXSDRR8872A Macro Remote Radio Unit Hardware Description.

l Yes → Self-inspection is successful. Go to the next step.l No → Troubleshoot the fault, or contact ZTE technical support.

5. Notify the OMC administrator to unblock the cells corresponding to this site.

6. Handle the faulty ZXSDR R8872A.

a. Put the faulty ZXSDR R8872A into a moisture-proof antistatic bag, mark theequipment model, sector information, and fault information on a label, and stickthe label on the bag.

b. Put the bag containing the faulty device into a carton. Paste a label on the carton, also describe the equipment model, sector information, and fault information.
