This, then, leads to the second reason for Ivs. We.” “Ican take on two forms: I, the singular person who is saying the phrase, and the royal I,I the believing community who are untied as one. When someone declared their interest to enter the Catholic Church, they begin a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RICA). Part of this rite, which takes place during the third week of Lent is the Presentation of the Creek. On the third week on Lent, during one of the weekday Masses, the person who is preparing to be received into the Catholic Church will come forward while the rest of the congregation recited the Creed. After the recitation of the Creed, the person will be handed a copy of the Creed, ceremoniously showing that the Creed is now his/her faith. Then he/she will leave and reflect on this article of faith. This rite shows that the Creed is not simply a statement of belief, but an article of faith that has been handed down through the generations from the Apostles who first encountered Jesus. The rest of the structure of the Creed is rather easy to notice. The Creed starts with a section on the Father, then the Son, then the Holy Spirit, and ends with the Church. In these four statements are found the four main tenants of the faith. Who do we believe in? God, who is one, who is also three persons, whom we call Trinity. And in the Church, the visible expression of who God is on Earth. Fr. Cody

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Creed part III The structure of the Creed The Creed is composed of four parts each part beginning with the statement “I believe.” Prior to the new translation of the Missal in 2011, the starting words of each section were “we believe.” The change in wording from “we” to “I” reflect the nature of the Creed and its central importance: baptism. At Baptism we received the Creed as our profession of faith and professed it with the believing community. During the Baptismal rite, we not only professed the Creed but were asked “do you believe…” This question is mean to be personal: Do I choose to believe in the faith that this Church professes? This, then, leads to the second reason for “I” vs. “We.” “I” can take on two forms: I, the singular person who is saying the phrase, and the royal “I,” I the believing community who are untied as one. Thus we see in the change of words the turn towards the recognition of the belief that I have as well as “I” the community united as one have. Did you know? When someone declared their interest to enter the Catholic Church, they begin a process called the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RICA). Part of this rite, which takes place during the third week of Lent is the Presentation of the Creek. On the third week on Lent, during one of the weekday Masses, the person who is preparing to be received into the Catholic Church will come forward while the rest of the congregation recited the Creed. After the recitation of the Creed, the person will be handed a copy of the Creed, ceremoniously showing that the Creed is now his/her faith. Faith, Hope and Love . . . Are these present in your marriage? Have you given up hope that they can be? In 1 Corinthians 13:13 Jesus tells us the greatest of these is Love. Living in a marriage that is missing love can be difficult. If you have given up hope that your marriage can and will get better, ask your spouse to consider attending a Retrouvaille program. Retrouvaille is an international Christian-based ministry that offers a three-stage program to help couples improve their marriages. First, a weekend program is attended, followed by post-weekend meetings. Finally, an on-going monthly small group of couples gather for support and growth. If improving your marriage is important to you, reach out today. For more information about an upcoming Retrouvaille Weekend program for couples, contact registration team: at 1-800-470-2230 or visit our website: www.retrouvailleMT.org or www.HelpOurMarriage.com

If you can bring in your palms from last year ‘s Palm Sunday for burning and use on Ash Wednes-day, please put them in the back of the church no

later than Sunday, March 3rd. Thank you.

PRAYER FOR A NEW BISHOP O great St. Helena, patroness of our diocese, who for love of Our Lord made pilgrimage to the Holy Land to mark the sites of His Pascal Mystery, grant, I pray, that you would intercede to the Father on behalf of our Diocesan Church as we await the appointment of our next bishop. Grant that we

will be sent a spiritual shepherd after the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for us, His sheep. Pray to God that we will be given a bishop who is faith-ful and just, holy and wise, loving and zealous. May he be com-pletely devoted to the Lord and to the service of the people en-trusted to his care, so that the Diocese of Helena may experi-ence a springtime of growth in holiness and the number of souls drawn to the Lord through His Church. Amen
