Background The primary purpose of this program, with the help of many individuals and friends of the Southern California Tennis Association and the LA84 Foundation, is to provide an atmosphere in which Juniors can gain tennis experience and personal growth. The program features instruction with an emphasis in learning the basic tennis skills, having fun and sportsmanship. The Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA) is one of 17 Sections of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). SCTA has administered this program for over 26 years with more than 155,000 youngsters participating since its inception.
The principal sponsor of the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) in Southern California is the LA84 Foundation now in its 26th year of program support. The LA84 Foundation is the legacy of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Our relationship has existed for 26 years and we are hopeful that this unique alliance will continue for many more. The Foundation’s resources are the result of the extraordinary spirit of volunteerism and cooperation that made the games so successful. Its mission is to serve youth through sport.
The Foundation sustains the Olympic legacy by serving a broad cross-section of Southern California as:
• A grant-making organization focused on youth sport
• A leader in sports programming and coaching education
• A center to learn about sports
