From the President’s desk……

Dear SITAA Members, Teachers, Students and other viewers of SITAA voice,

Let me first convey my Hearty Greetings for the NEW YEAR 2020 with prayers to Lord

Almighty that let the coming year 2020 is brighter than the preceding year 2019.

I am extremely happy to inform you that the Alumni of 1981 batch have done the Bhoomi

Puja on 26th January 2019 for the construction of an open air auditorium in SIT premises.

They want to install the bust size statues of our late beloved Principals Sri.GS & Sri.ANC.

The construction work has been started and it is going on in a full swing. They have

contributed their share and a few others are also contributed. A separate Account has been

opened with the Bank of India, Ariyamangalam Branch, functioning in SIT CAMPUS.

I welcome liberal contributions from our Alumni as well as those who are known to Sri.GS

& Sri.ANC, so that the work can go on without any interruption till its finish. It is very

much heartening to note that even SRI ANC”s family has also given their contribution.

The Academic work is also going on well, with due care taken by Sri.G.M.Rajendran, Hon.

Secretary, SES, Dr.K.Vijayakumar, Principal in charge, Dr,V,G,Ravindhren Vice Principal

and their team of faculty and staff. The events that have taken place have been properly

presented in the following pages of this issue.

I wish all students who join SIT, take the best of the facilities to shape themselves as

promising professionals and leaders in their chosen profession.

Dear SITians,

SITAA extended essential support to SIT in its’ enhancement in several projects. As an

alumnus I would like to share that Sri.G.Sundaram 101st birth day will be on 22-01-2020.

As an honor to GS, an encomium is being published in annual magazine of SIT, SITMAG-2020. SIT & SITAA wishes each one of you and your family members that all your desires

are fulfilled. SIT Annual day is scheduled on 28-01-2020 along with celebrations of GS

Centenary celebrations. All are invited. I express my sincere thanks to all alumni for their support and cooperation in execution of

the projects of SIT and SITAA. I thank all who supported to bring out this SITAA VOICE,

with our President note nicely presented, on this occasion, I am glad to present this issue of SITAA VOICE of third quarter of 2019-20. To know the details, please read on….

NSS TEAM PARTICIPATION IN CLEANINGS & TREE PLANTATION

On 02nd October, our NSS boys participated in Cleanliness Drive conducted at Anna

Stadium. Principal Dr.K.Vijaykumar and NSS Coordinator Mr.B.Sinthanaiselvan also

participated. A new concept of “Plogging” , a combination of jogging with picking up litter,

was tried on that occasion.

150th year birth anniversary celebration

of Mahatma Gandhi

SIT celebrated the 150th year birth

anniversary of our father of the nation “ Mahathma Gandhi” by conducting

competitions for the First year students.

Essay writing and elocution compettions were conducted and the winners were

awarded prizes at a function

Founder’s Memorial day :

Our founder Sri V.Seshasayee’s memorial day was observed on 19th October 2019 at the

Institute premises. Floral tributes were paid to the statue of Sri VS on that occasion.

Sri.G.M.Rajendran, Hon. Secretary briefed the active involvement of Sri.VS in industrial

growth in South India during 1940s. The growth was through SMESC, MCIL, Mettur, FACT, SIL, Vadalur, and ALIND, Kundara, Hirakud and major projects in entire South

India. Hon.Secretray specifically mentioned an event before Sri.VS welcoming Former

Prime Minister of India Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru during his visit to Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore in December .1947.

SIT donated Computer to Panchayat Union Middle School :

On 04-11-2019, Our institution donated one desktop Computer to Panchayat Union middle

School, Ariyamangalam. The above village and school are adopted by NSS unit of SIT for enhancement.

101st Governing Council of SIT

SIT’s Governing Council meeting held at SIT on 29-11-2019. Chairman Sri.V.K.Seshasayee

welcomed Sri.N.Gopalaratnam, Chairman SPB Ltd, Sri.P.Chella Ramasamy, Joint

Managing Director, Jothi Malleables, Sri.S.Tamil Selvam, Principal, GPT, Trichy,

Dr.M.S.Padmanabhan Principal CPT, Tharamani and other GC Members.

Dr.K.Vijayakumar Principal in charge briefed the SIT activities and enhancement. During

the meeting the importance of NBA for the programs to GC.GC approved and advised to

proceed with, to meet the requirements of NBA. GC appreciated the development and

enhancement in operations of SIT. Dr.Vijayakumar thanked GC members and meeting

came to end.

A new Computer Lab was established in ICE department was inaugurated by

Sri.N.Gopalaratnam, CMD, SPB Ltd. This laboratory was provided with 30 computers with

the peripherals (Monitors and Keyboard) sponsored by Sri.R.Mananathan Chairman,

Manatec Group of Companies, Pondicherry and CPUs were donated by Ford Motors India

Ltd., Chennai. New Computer furniture and 5 KVA UPS were also provided to the lab.

Awareness Program by Police Department

On 09th December 2019, towards safety and precautionary measures while travelling alone

or handling the situation at the time of any crisis, an awareness program was arranged for

the girl students and women faculty. Participants have been educated on the uses of the

“KAVALAN App”, a mobile application, developed by TN police department. Inspector of

Police of Ariyamangalam Police Department Mr. Mutharasan and other police officials were

present to demonstrate the using of the APP.

Deputation of SIT Faculty to AICTE-UKIERI Programme : SIT deputed Mrs.

V.Vijayalakshmi, HOD, ICE to participate the 2nd phase of AICTE-UKIERI sponsored technical Education leadership Development programme at Jodhpur during the First week

of December 2019.Earlier she actively participated the first phase of AICTE-UKERI

technical education leadership development programme during early 2019.

Distribution of Lap Top Computers to SIT students

As per the directive of District Collector, Tiruchirapalli, Lap top computers of Government

of Tamilnadu were distributed to the 2nd and 3rd year students of S.I.T on 15th November

2019. Total number of lap top computers distributed – 389 nos

National Mathematical day

National Mathematical day was celebrated on 20th December 2019, in SIT. Dr.Ruban Raj ,

Principal, RVS Arts and Science College, Inam Kulathur was the Chief Guest. In his

presentation “ We love Maths”, he presented how Mathematics is an integral part of all

Science and all walks of human life. He also entertained the students by doing some live

and interactive demonstration.

NBA Awareness Program

At present, it is mandatory that educational institutions must be National Board of

Accredited. NBA assures quality in education. Importance of NBA was briefed in 101st GCM

of SIT held on 29-11-2019. GC advised SIT to arrange NBA at the earliest. The Principal

and Management have arranged an awareness program on NBA meeting on 23-12-2019.

Mr.K.S.Sreenivasan, Associate Professor of MNM Jain College, Chennai, a lead Consultant

in assisting in meeting the requirements of NBA, in Engineering colleges and Polytechnics.

He briefed the roadmap to meet the requirements of NBA and explained the Outcome based

Education (OBE) and Program Objectives while designing the curriculum and syllabus of

various diploma programs to achieve the Vision and Mission of an institution.

Conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra in addition to earlier awards received in Quiz

competition and Paper Presentation in the Interpolytechnic Competition held at Valangaiman GPT. Congratulations to Vaishali to achieve more laurels

GS’s centenary celebrations along with SIT Annual day is scheduled on 28-01-2020.
