The 202nd Sir Syed Day was celebrated on 17th October 2019
at AMU City Girls’ High School with zeal and enthusiasm.
This was the first Sir Syed Day celebration in City Girls’
High School since its inception.
The programme was attended by Mr. Naseem Ahmad
Khan, Associate Professor Deptt. of Chemical Engg. and
Chairman as a Chief Guest. Prof. Anwar Shahzad ,
Assistant Director DOSE and Mr. Manzar Jamal Siddiqui
Sir, Former Principal S.T.S High School were the guests of
honour.
The program began with the recitation of Holy Quran and
the welcome address by the Principal Dr. Md. Alamgir. He
welcomed all the dignitaries & guests and briefed about the
history of the school. He further said that this is the first
and foremost responsibility of a teacher to create interests
in the students to study. He further said that moral
teaching is also necessary so that the students can
differentiate between good and bad. Most of all moral
teaching teaches us to respect elders and to love youngers.
So, with both the academic and moral educations we can
make our globe a better place.
As a Chief Guest Mr. Naseem Ahmad Khan spoke about the
works & efforts of Sir Syed and that the title of ‘Sir’ was
given to him for his efforts to reconcile Muslims with the
British. He insisted that the Muslim community need such
people who could be the torch bearer for educationally
backward. He concluded his speech with the sentence that
no community can be developed without education.
Prof. Anwar Shahzad, the Guest of Honour spoke about the
vision of Sir Syed and that the society should be educated.
He further talked about the sufferings of Sir Syed and called
him the best teacher who sacrificed his entire life for the
upliftment of the Muslim Community.
Mr. Manzar Jamal Siddiqui, the another Guest of Honour
said Sir Syed was not only educator but was a good human
being. He was the man of modern thinking. He said because
of his teachings students from every corner of the country
and from abroad come here to study and this makes AMU a
cosmopolitan University. Sir Syed was the real advocate of
modern education. He emphasised that every teacher
should make strong bond with the students. Teachers are
known with his/her subjects. He said that Mission of Sir
Syed is still alive in AMU Community.
All the guests congratulated the teaching fraternity of the
AMU City Girls’ High School for organising Sir Syed Day
for the very first time in school. They said that the new
‘Era’ has been started.
The programme came to its end with the vote of thanks
proposed by Mr. Ismail Beg followed by Dinner.
