The MAS is an impressive building containing a museum (among other things). The museum square features Luc Tuymans’ mosaic, the boulevard, and a rooftop panorama. The MAS is a total experience. Cathedral of Our Lady 2.7km Covering 2.5 acres, this is the largest church in Belgium and Holland. This Gothic building looms over Handschoen Market Square with its tower that is 403 feet tall containing a belfry with a 47-bell carillon. Inside the Cathedral are masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens. Central Station 0.9km Leopold II had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905. Now one of the world’s greatest train stations. Rubens House 2.1km Rubens oversaw the building of this house when his early fortune enabled him such extravagance at the age of 33. Works by Rubens and other prominent artists of the time are on display, as is Rubens’ extensive collection of Roman statues. Zurenborg 0.4km A beautiful architectural area, southeast in Antwerp. Developed between 1894 and 1906. Houses are built in Neoclassical, eclectic or Art Nouveau style.
