SINGLE WINDOW – OPERATIONAL DEFINITION Project to establish “Indian Customs Single Window”
Two clearly stated objectives: Trader will submit electronic information required for regulatory clearance of import and export
goods at a Single Entry Point.
Required permissions, if any will be given online without traders having to approach different agencies.
Did not start from scratch.
Make sure one piece of information is submitted only once
Being built on the top of existing e-services; don’t re-invent the wheel;
Backed by steady executive and policy support
Two distinct visions – Regulatory Single Window & Logistics Single Window
One philosophy – Build the core, and make sure everything else is done
