Singita Takes Top Honours in Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2019
July 2019 – Singita has taken top honours in this year’s Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards
2019, scooping both 3rd and 8th places among The Top 100 Hotels in the World. Singita Sabi
Sand also secured the winning spot in The Top 10 Safari Lodges in Africa category.
Rated against the finest hotels around the globe, flagship Singita Sabi Sand in South Africa –
home to its founding lodges Singita Ebony and Singita Boulders, as well as the exclusive-use
Singita Castleton – was ranked as No. 1 Safari Lodges in Africa and No. 3 in the Top 100 Hotels
in the World. Sharing an unfenced border with the iconic Kruger National Park, Singita’s Sabi
Sand’s 30,000-acre private concession offers inimitable game-viewing experiences and is
renowned for its high concentrations of big game and frequent lion and leopard sightings. In
Sabi Sand, Singita deploys a highly skilled canine anti-poaching unit to safeguard free-roaming
wildlife as well as supporting various small business development, education and community
partnership programmes as part of its ecotourism model. In addition, Singita Sabi Sand has
been added to the World’s Best Awards (WBA) Hall of Fame, bestowed on a destination voted
onto the specific WBA list for the past 10 consecutive years.
Singita Grumeti, in Tanzania, followed closely at No. 8 on the coveted list of The Top 100 Hotels
in the World, as well as the No.3 spot in The Top 10 Safari Lodges in Africa category.
Encompassing five distinct properties – Singita Sasakwa Lodge, Sabora Tented Camp, Faru Faru
Lodge, Singita Explore as well as Serengeti House – Singita Grumeti is one of the jewels in the
crown of its iconic safari destinations. It is situated adjacent to the Serengeti National Park and
forms an integral part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, the home of the Great Migration.
Guests have exclusive access to a 350,000-acre concession, which is protected by the
dedicated conservation team at the Grumeti Fund.
Since its inception in 2002, Grumeti Fund has invested funding as well as the commitment of
its team into supporting community projects with Singita. Together, they have spearheaded
projects like the K9 Anti-Poaching Unit, Elephant Collaring (Safaris With a Purpose) Project and
the newly established Serengeti Girls Run. In this partnership, Singita and the Grumeti Fund
apply the best of tourism and conservation to create programmes that benefit the people,
wildlife and land of the Serengeti.
“To have two properties in the top 10 in the world is an incredible feat. I am enormously proud
of our entire team! Winning these coveted awards is critically important to our future growth
and positioning. Singita’s expansion depends on selecting projects that are as good, or better
than, the current offering, where we can safeguard Africa’s most vulnerable species and
natural habitats,” says Luke Bailes, founder and Executive Chairman of Singita.
