Objective This course is designed to provide training for prospective and existing deck and engineer officers responsible for watch keeping during anchor handling and towing operations on board vessels engaged in anchor handling operations. Participants Deck Cadets and Trainee Engineers entering the offshore sector, and certificated deck and engineer officers new to the offshore sector. The course is most suited to those with little or no experience in offshore operations. Course Content Equipment, including wires, shackles, links and tools used in anchor handling. Anchor handling vessel layouts, winch configurations and deck equipment. Overview of anchor handling operations, from shallow water to deep water, prelays and suitcase buoy systems. Decking anchors, altering fluke angles, anchor inspections and chain handling. Towing rigs, barges, and towline configurations. Wire stoppers/sharks jaws, use and care of towing pins and jaws. Vessel capabilities, position keeping and stability requirements. Winch operation. Offshore specific regulation – AMSA. Risk assessment processes and risk management tools. Perform anchor handling and towing duties in the simulator. Conduct after action peer review of simulation cases/feedback Course Pre-requisites Participants to hold, or be undertaking training towards, a minimum of Deck Watchkeeper or Engineer Watchkeeper certificate. Participants may benefit from having some previous offshore experience. Other industry personnel will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements This course requires the ability to read and interpret typical product specifications, job sheets, procedures, and safety information as provided to operators. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms. Numeracy is required to calculate loads and weights. The course is delivered in English. Assessment & Competency Achievement There is no formal assessment carried out at the completion of the course. 100% attendance and participation in the course is required. Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Training on completion of the course. Course Duration 4 Days: Day 1 8:30am to 4:30pm Day 2 8:30am to 4:30pm

Course Fee and Additional Service Costs $5,368.00 ($4,880.00 + GST) This course fee includes lunch, and morning and afternoon tea at the center. Terms and Conditions of Enrolment Course participants are required to agree with the Term and Conditions of enrolment.
