HABITUAL ACTIONS.
• TO TALK ABOUIT HABITUAL ACTIONS OR DAILY ROUTINES.
EXAMPLES:
I brush my teeth every day.
John sleeps 8 hours at night every day.
Permanent situations
• TO TALK ABOUT PERMANENT SITUATIONS OR STATES.
EXAMPLES:
We live in a big house.
I work at Pro-Lingua.
GENERAL TRUTH.
• TO TALK ABOUT FACTS OR GENERAL TRUTHS.
EXAMPLES:
The sun rises in the east.Water boils at 100 degrees.
FUTURE EVENTS
• TO TALK ABOUT FUTURE EVENTS WITH TIMETABLE OR SCHEDULES.
EXAMPLES:
My flight leaves at 10 am.The concert starts at 8 pm.

TWO FORMS: BASE FORM(1ST, 2ND PERSON) AND “S/ES” FORM( 3RD PERSON)

Spelling rules
Most verbs take -s in the third person singular. Examples:
I swim - he swimsI jump - she jumps I clean - he cleans
Verbs ending in -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -z,or -o take -es . Examples:
I kiss - she kissesI brush - he brushes I catch - he catchesI do - he does I fix – he fixesbuzz - buzzes
Verbs ending in a consonant + y,
erase the y and add -ies .Examples:
I study - he studiesI try - she tries I copy - he copies
Verbs ending in a vowel + y,
we only add -s .Examples:
I play – She playsYou buy – he buys I say – she says
Time expressions
every day/week/month/year,
every morning/afternoon/evening/night,
in the morning/afternoon/evening, at night,
on Mondays/Tuesdays/Wednesdays, etc.
FOR ALL VERBS (EXCEPT BE), USE THE AUXILIARIES DO AND DOES + THE NEGATIVE NOT:
Negative form.
They have a big house.They don’t have a big house.
Sara works on Sunday.Sara doesn’t work on Sunday.
IN QUESTION THE AUXILIARY GOES IN THE FIRST POSITION.
Question form
