INTRODUCTION TO SILVERWARE QUALITY CONTROL The Silverware Quality Control (QC) functionality is described in this document. Within this module, it is possible to execute the following actions:

• Register default inspections and examinations, which need to be performed during the process. • Create QC registrations and documents based on default templates or by user creation. • Register the results of executed inspections. • Block or unblock a lot, based on these results. • Send a CoA (Certificate of Analysis). • Register inventory movements for quality testing and quarantine. • Create internal and external lab samples. • Set program indicators for inheritance of quality control testing and results from source. • Auto-approve QC Documents. • Assign multiple quality control tests and results based on groupings within the program. • Permissions assignment to users and/or user groups for quality control activities.

SETUPS This section includes general information about the various QC Setups

QC SETUP 1. Click the magnifying glass and in the search box, type in QC Setup.

2. The first page that comes up is the QC Setup list page. There is a card associated, so ensure that is completed in

the setting up of the QC Module. Click Manage, Edit to open QC Setup card.

NOTE: In the card page, if a user toggles off the Enable box to disable the QC module, all users must close their NAV session for the action to take effect. There is a popup message reminding that all users must close and reopen for the action to take effect.

Document Approval FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Auto-Approve on Entry Close Toggle field to allow Auto-Approve on Entry Close functionality. The

program requires a secondary approval of the QC Test results by someone other than the person entering the test results.

Quarantine FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Quarantine Use By Options are:

• None • Location: Suggested setup by the program. • Zone

Quarantine Transfer Type Defines what function the Worksheet will use in the background. Options are:

• Manual: Manual Entry. • Transfer Order: In-Transit • Item Reclass. Journal: Suggested setup by the program.

Combine Quarantine Movements

• Yes: The quarantine movements will be combined. • No: The quarantine movements will not be combined. • Prompt: A popup will ask the user if they would like to combine

quarantine movements.

NOTE: For the combining of Quarantine Movements. Used in conjunction with Quarantine Transfer Type of Transfer Order. If Transfer Order is selected, you can combine Quarantine Movements via a transfer order to the Quarantine location.

Quarantine In-Transit Location The location setup for the Quarantine movements. Quarantine Item Jnl. Template Create a journal template specifically for quarantine. Quarantine Item Jnl. Batch Create a journal batch specifically for quarantine.

Lab Testing/Samples FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Gen. Prod. Posting Group: Samples

QC specific posting group setup for product testing. This posting group will post to a Lab/Samples G/L account as specified in the Gen. Posting Setup Matrix.

Item Jnl. Template Name: Internal Samples

Create a journal template specifically for Internal Samples.

Item Jnl. Batch Name: Internal Samples

Create a journal batch specifically for Internal Samples.

Lab Purchase Billing Type Default is G/L Account. Lab Purchase Billing Code G/L account where lab transactions are posted. Sample Customer No. Identifies the customer number of which the lab transactions will post. Samples Customer Name The customer name of which the lab transactions will post. Defaulted

once Sample Customer No. is filled in. Combine Samples on Sales Doc.

• Yes: The samples will be combined on one sales document. • No: The samples will not be combined on the sales document. • Prompt: A popup will ask the user if they would like to combine

the samples on the sales document.

NOTE: For combining samples on a sales document. If Yes is selected, the aggregate outstanding samples will be on one sales document. If Prompt is selected, the program will display a message if user would like to combine samples on a sales document.

NOTE: Within the Samples Customer Card, the vendor associated with the invoicing of the samples must be in the Ship-to Addresses as a QC Default for Lab Vendor for the samples to be invoiced. A demonstration for this can be found later in this section. More information of Lab Samples and Testing can be found in the User Scenarios section of this document.

Numbering FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION QC Document No. Series Specifies the number series to use to create a QC Document. The

program automatically takes the next number from this number series to create a new QC Document. If you leave this field blank, you must manually assign the document number.

QC Prod. Measure Doc No. Series

Specifies the number series to use to create a QC Prod. Measure Document. The program automatically takes the next number from this number series to create a new QC Prod. Measure Document. If you leave this field blank, you must manually assign the document number.

Inheritance FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Allow Same Source Item No. Toggle field to allow the results from QC Tests to be inherited from the

same source item number of a consumed Lot/Serial number to new output Lot/Serial number.

COA Reports FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Code Identifies the code of the report. Text Field, up to 15

characters. Name Description of the report input by user for easier

identification from the default name. Text field, 20 characters.

COA Report Selection Report number drop down that corresponds to the Report ID and Report Name.

Address/Phone Number Address and phone number that will print on report. Report ID This shows the number of the relevant source report.

There are six default Certificate of Analysis report layouts.

Report Name Name of source report. Defaults once Report ID has been set.

More information can be found on CoA Reporting in the Certificate of Analysis section of this document. To Create a Lab Samples Customer

• To create a new lab samples customer, click the magnifying glass and type Customers and select the related option.

• From the Customer List page, click New to enter a new Lab Samples Customer.

NOTE: Within the RapidStart Configuration Package for Cronus USA, the Lab Samples Customer is already setup for use in the User Scenarios. If the Configuration Package has not been imported, the user must set up a new Lab Samples Customer for the Lab Samples functionality to work. To see more about the RapidStart Configuration Package and User Scenarios, go to the Prerequisites section of this document.

• Fill in the Customer card as you would when creating a new customer in standard Business Central. Upon completion of entering Lab Samples Customer information, close out of the newly created Lab Samples Customer card.

• From the Home screen, click the magnifying glass and type QC Setup Card and click the related option.

• Within the QC Setup Card, locate the Lab Testing/Samples FastTab and within the Sample Customer No., enter in the newly created Lab Samples Customer number from the dropdown.

• The Lab Samples Customer can now be associated with a Lab Samples Vendor.

To Associate a Lab Samples Vendor to a Lab Samples Customer

• To associate the Lab Samples Customer with the Lab Samples Vendor for invoicing, click into the Sample Customer Name field.

• Click Manage/Edit to edit the Lab Samples Customer card.

• Within the Home ribbon, click Navigate/Customer/Ship-to Addresses to add the vendor for invoicing of the samples.

• Click New or Manage/Edit to enter the Lab Samples Vendor for invoicing of the samples.

• Fill in the General tab as a normal Ship-to Address.

• On the QC Tab of the Ship to Address card, click the dropdown in the QC Lab Vendor No. field to associate a vendor as the QC Lab Vendor for samples invoicing. Toggle on the QC Default for Lab

Vendor field to default the vendor on associated QC Documents for external samples. The lab customer and its associated vendor are now set up for sampling.

QC QUARANTINE LOCATION A QC Quarantine Location is a location within the program where quality control testing is done before the item’s Lot/Serial number can be consumed or sold.

• To set up a QC Quarantine Location, navigate by clicking the magnifying glass and in the search box type Locations.

• Click New or Manage/Edit to set up a new QC Quarantine Location or edit one.

• The setup for a QC Quarantine Location is identical to a standard NAV location except for the QC FastTab. Within the QC FastTab, there is a toggle field named QC Quarantine Location. If checked, the program asserts that this location is the QC Quarantine Location and all inventory movements to and from this location are tracked with quality control testing and results.

QC USERS Each user who performs quality control activities can be setup as a QC User and assigned to a specific setup within the QC Module. The QC User setup filters all QC activities based on the toggle field within the QC User setup so that the user can only perform the specified activities as dictated from the System Use FastTab on the QC User setup.

• Navigate to the QC Users page by clicking the magnifying glass and type QC Users in the search box.

System Use FastTab

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Advanced Setup Allowed Toggle to allow for setup beyond what the basic QC

allows. Inventory QC Toggle to identify that the user has access for the

Inventory QC functionality. Production QC Toggle to identify that the user has access for the

Production QC functionality.

NOTE: QC User Setup is not a requirement in the QC Module. QC User Setup is a best practice to enforce permissions in the QC Module based on specific quality control activities.

QC RESULTS

QC Results are the values or options of the quality control test results that can be setup once to allow for the duplication on several QC Tests and multiple QC Groups. Within QC Results, you can enter the target result option/value and the tolerances within based on the QC Test and specified QC Results code. NOTE: QC Results must be setup first in order to then attach to a QC Test. Once the QC Results have been attached to the QC Test, it can then be used in within QC Groups and subsequently in a QC Document. The sections within this document are setup to reflect this order of operation.

• Navigate to QC Results by clicking on the magnifying glass and in the search box type QC Results. Click New or Edit to open a QC Result Card.

Result Value/Filter The value and filter based on the Type field in the General fast tab and the Result Value Inheritance field on the Result List Validation tab.

Result Status Status of the QC Test. Options are: • In Process • Completed • Pass • Fail

To set up a QC Result

• To set up QC Results click magnifying glass and type QC Results and select the related option.

• From the QC Results List page, click New and a new QC Results card will open.

• Within the QC Result card, fill in the General Tab fields as described in the above section.

QC TESTS QC Tests are a set of parameters to allow for the testing of quality control on specific items within the program. QC Tests are user defined and can be added to the QC Groups to allow for multiple test assignments within the QC Groups. NOTE: The QC Results must be setup before the QC Tests can be created. Once the QC Tests are created, the QC Groups can then have the QC Tests with the corresponding QC Results attached to an item or a group of items. General FastTab

This section has the following fields for QC Tests:

FIELD NAME FUNCTION No. Number of the QC Test created. Description The description field for the QC Tests code. Type Type is the correlation from Result Option/ Range

name. For example, if the Type = Decimal, the subsequent Result Option/Range Name will be an option or range relating to a decimal value. Select from the drop down:

• Option: Requires an option. User defined. • Text: Free-form text by user. • Integer: A number value. • Decimal: A decimal range.

Unit of Measure Code The unit of measure the test is recorded. Unit of Measure The unit of measure as defined from the standard

Repeat/Series FastTab This section has the following fields for QC Tests.

FIELD NAME FUNCTION Allow Repeated Toggle to allow for the test to be repeated when

added to a QC Groups. NOTE: An example would be a temperature QC Test done multiple times within a production run.

Repeat Test Type • None: If Allow Repeated is toggled and Repeat Test Type is None, the program will allow the test to be repeatable in one group without setting up the series.

• Series: If Allow Repeated is toggled and Repeat Test Type is Series, the program will allow the tests to be repeatable within the group. NOTE: If Repeat Test Type is Series, the Repeat Test Minimum/Maximum and Result Validation fields must be filled in. This is not required on Repeat Test Type =None.

Repeat Test Default Value • First: The first tested value within the series will be used.

• Last: The last tested value of the series will be used.

• Minimum: The minimum test value of the series will be used.

• Maximum: The maximum test value of the series will be used.

• Average: The average test value of the series will be used.

• Total: The total of all the test values will be used.

Repeat Test Minimum Count Minimum requirement the test can be repeated. Repeat Test Maximum Count Maximum requirement the test can be repeated. The

If the production order has an ending date of 5/31/19 and the lead time calculation is serial and the production started on 5/26/19, the Lead Time Days field would be 5D.

• The QC Test can now be attached or used within QC Groups.

NOTE: In this example of QC Test “Viscosity”, we added the QC Results code of the same name we set up in the prior demonstration in the QC Results section.

QC GROUPS QC Groups allow the creation of QC Tests for items the program requires for QC testing. QC Groups are a way to house all tests related to the item to be tested in a predefined format or grouping. QC Groups also allows for tests belonging to a QC Groups to be replicated and/or combined in a different QC Groups. An example of this would be a QC Groups for a production run. Within QC Groups, the user would have the ability to record consistent various measurements and input the registrations all within one grouping that can be attached to an item or routing as well.

NOTE: When QC Groups are attached to an item or routing, the program asserts that the tests within the QC Groups must be registered and completed before that item can be consumed or sold. To further this within the QC Module, on attachment of QC Groups to an item or routing, the program will create a QC Document for any positive adjustment of inventory when there is a related QC Groups on an item or routing.

The exception would be where an item is set to inherit the testing and results. In this case, the item adjustment would then be linked to the source QC Document’s testing and results. More information can be found on the QC Source Item Inheritance in the QC Source Items section of this document.

How To: Set Up a QC Group 1. Navigate to QC Groups by clicking magnifying glass, in the search box type QC Groups and select the related

How To: Add QC Groups to Item Categories Within QC and standard NAV, the program has Item Categories. These Item Categories are used to group default item setup values for easier creation of new items. The user can default posting groups, attributes, costing method and parent categories within standard NAV. With the addition of the QC Module, the user can assign default QC Groups for testing all items within the Item Category.

OTHER FUNCTIONALITY

QC To/From Quarantine Worksheets There will be times within production that Lot/Serial numbers will need to be put on a quality hold for a variety of reasons. The program allows for these quality holds by way of the QC to Quarantine Worksheet. It also allows for movements out of the quality hold from the QC from Quarantine Worksheet. These movements, much like inventory movements, are done within this worksheet to transfer the inventory to a quarantine location and/or bin for further testing, rework or disposal. The process of the movements is done by the subsequent creation of an item reclass journal or transfer order, dependent on Quarantine Transfer setup in QC Setup, that populates with the information from the QC to/from Quarantine Worksheet.

To Use the QC To/From Quarantine Worksheet 1. In the search box, enter QC to Quarantine Worksheet and click the related link. This will open the Item List

3. Once you filter to show just the items to reclass, select the Quarantine Location on the line. If bin codes are being used, select the Quarantine Bin Code.

2. The QC Lot Information List is a snapshot of all lots with quality control activity. From the list page view, the

user can see the item, lot/serial number, various statuses and quantities throughout the quality control process. There are also additional fact boxes that the user can review as well.

QC Prod. Measure Documents In addition to the QC Documents, the QC Module has a related document called the QC Prod. Measure Document. This document’s purpose is for repeatable testing that would mimic the kind of quality control testing that is happening in real time on the production floor. This document and its setup are identical to QC Documents as discussed under the QC Documents section of this document.

2. In this example, the document requires multiple test lines throughout the production for recording. From the ribbon, the user can re-open the document, re- test or get consumption lines to link to the document. Within the QC Module, you can do standardized QC Tests or Series Testing.

QC Source Items QC Source Items are used to inherit quality control testing and results from the source item Lot/Serial number to a new item Lot/Serial number. Once a QC Source Item is set on an item card, the program will then translate all source documents to the item Lot/Serial number that is set to inherit the testing and results. The program allows for an item to inherit its own testing and results. This would be used when the items Lot/Serial number is split into multiple lots.

On setup of items, it is best practice within the QC Module to set an item’s QC Source Item to inherit from itself as it provides full traceability from the source Lot/Serial number regardless of how many QC Source Items are set on an individual item.

The program accounts for multi-level source item lot tracing based on the source inheritance rules. In the case of adding a QC Source Item to an item that will inherit tests and results, the QC Groups should be left blank on the item card as the program will inherit all testing and results from the source item, not the individual item’s QC Groups. To Add QC Source Item Inheritance

1. In the search box, enter Item and click on the related link.

2. With the item highlighted, click the Item/QC Source Items button in the Home ribbon.

Install Silverware Quality Control Module in Business Central To enable use of the Silverware Quality Control Module, the user must first install the QC Module and activate the QC Setup. 1. To install the QC Module, click the magnifying glass and type Extension Management.

2. Locate Silverware Quality Control and click into Not Installed. The Extension Installation screen will appear.

3. Click Next then Install. Upon successful installation, a popup will show the extension has been successfully installed and all active users must sign out and in again to see the updated changes.

4. Click the I accept the terms and conditions toggle then click Install.

5. Click OK and sign out and in to use QC Module.

Run Quality Control License Setup Wizard To enable use of the Silverware Quality Control module, the user must first run the Quality Control License Setup wizard. 1. To access the setup wizard, click the magnifying glass and type Quality Control Central License Setup and click

the related link.

2. Upon clicking Quality Control License Setup, the user will receive a prompt, “Quality Control has not been

setup. Do you wish to walk through an Assisted Setup?” Click Yes to continue.

3. The program will then ask if you have an existing license. Assuming you do not, click Next without toggling the field to continue.

4. Check Activate Company for the Company (or Companies) for which you wish to activate Silverware Quality

Import RapidStart Configuration Packages with Setups and Sample Data This is the package that contains QC Setups and sample data required for User Scenario Walkthroughs. 1. Search for and click on the Configuration Packages link.

2. Click Process/Import Package.

3. Click Choose.

4. Find and select the PackageUS.ENU.EXTENDED file (or applicable RapidStart file) and click Open. This will bring

in the Configuration Package including default setups and sample data.

11. Find and select the PackageMS QC RAPID START file (or applicable RapidStart file) and click Open. This will bring in the Configuration Package including default setups and sample data.

12. Open the imported Configuration Package and apply package data by clicking Process, Apply Package.

User Scenario Walkthroughs These walkthroughs are focused on Silverware Quality Control-specific functionality. For standard Dynamics 365 Business Central processes, please refer to Microsoft’s documentation. The following walkthroughs are done from the Business Manager profile/role center.

Create and Post Item Journals to Auto-Create QC Documents In this scenario, we will create and post an Item Journal entry for items 1000, 1001 and 1896-S in order to auto-create the related QC Documents. 1. Search for and click on the Item Journals link.

2. Within the Item Journal Default Batch, create three Positive Adjmt. lines for items 1000, 1001, 1896-S and add

the following information for each line. a. Entry Type: Positive Adjmt. b. Location Code: Blue c. Quantity: 100

4. Within the Item Tracking Lines page, type a lot number. This can be a free entry number as the item is not lot

entry specific. In the Quantity (Base) field, enter 100. Then click Close.

can see the newly created documents by searching for and clicking on QC Documents.

Create and Post Production Order Output to Auto-Create QC Documents In this scenario, we will create demonstrate how QC Production Measure Documents can be used to capture quality metrics during production and how a QC Document can be auto created when posting production Output from a Released Production Order. 1. From the Role Center page, click magnifying glass search for and select Released Production Orders.

5. If you recall during the Setups, when adding a Routing to Item #1000, we added the TEMPERATURE QC Group Code to two of the Work Centers for Routing No. = 1000. This caused two QC Production Measure Documents to be created and associated with the production order.

6. During the production process, you can record appropriate measurements, metrics, etc. by recording them in the applicable QC Documents. For example, to post a Temperature measurement at the start of the production process, let’s enter results into the first Prod. Measure Document.

a. Select the first QC Prod. Measure Document in the Prod. Measure Documents Factbox of the production order. Then click the dropdown arrow next to the Factbox title and select QC Result Entry.

b. Enter a valid test result value in the Value (Text) field (notice the valid result options in the Factbox).

10. Notice the update to the status of the Prod. Measure Document in the Factbox in the Released Production Order.

To Prepare an Internal Sample In this scenario, an item has been received that requires a QC Document and internal sample testing. Please use the QC Document created from the item journal, on item 1000, Bicycle, in the Create and Post Item Journals to Auto-Create QC Documents section above. 1. In the search box, enter QC Documents and click the related link. This will open the QC Documents list page.

2. Locate the QC Document for Item No. = 1000 with the Lot No. that you assigned to this item in the Create and Post Item Journals to Auto-Create QC Documents section above.

6. This will open the SW QC Sample Qty Entry window. Enter the Sample Qty. of 1 to be sent to the laboratory. Then select the Issue from Location Code. In this scenario we will use BLUE location. Click OK.

NOTE: If there is already an existing sample Sales Order for the same Lab Customer/Ship-to Address, a popup will appear inquiring to add the sample to the existing or to create a new order. If you select Yes, your sample will be added to the existing Sales Order. If you select No, a new sample Sales Order will be created.

8. On the QC Document, in the Lab/Samples FastTab, note that the Sample Sales Order No. is now populated with

the Sales Order as a hyperlink. Click the link to open the sales order.

10. In the Shipping and Billing FastTab of the Sales Order, note that the Ship-to code for the Lab vendor is populated along with the correct address.

11. Note that the Lines FastTab is populated with the pertinent information on the line based on the QC Document. Also, there are text lines identifying the lot and QC Document number the sample is associated with.

NOTE: There is no Unit Price Excl. Tax populated on the order. QC Samples default to $0.00.

5. In the QC Document Journal, enter valid test results in the Value (Text) field. Based on the test setup, the status will populate Pass or Fail based on the criteria in the Results Status field. In this scenario, you will enter value options so the test will pass. Choose the passing values from the QC Document Line Options FactBox.

NOTE: All lines should have a Result Status of Completed or Pass. Note that test result entry lines with these statuses will turn green when you leave the record. If you enter a value that triggers a Fail result, then the line will turn red. This is a warning indicator only as some results may truly result in a status of Fail.

6. Once all results are entered, click on the Post button in the ribbon.

7. Click Yes to post.

8. A pop-up indicated that the journal lines were successfully posted will appear. Click OK.

6. Now select/highlight the second line. However, note that you receive the following popup if you try to enter a value in the Value (Text) field. Although we could click Yes to open the Series Value Entry page, click No.

11. Upon completion of the series testing, click Post. A popup will state the following message: “Do you want to post the QC Journal lines?”

Reconcile and Post the Lab Vendor Invoice for QC Testing In this scenario, the sample testing results have been returned from the outside laboratory for item 1001, Touring Bicycle, QC Test Results have been entered, and the Lab Vendor invoice has been received. NOTE: In order to reconcile the lab invoice to the QC Document, the Lab/Samples FastTab on the QC Document must have the following fields filled in:

• Lab Vendor No. • External Report No.

1. Click on the magnifying glass to search for Purchase Invoices and click the related link.

2. From the Purchase Invoice list page, click New.

3. In the General tab of the Purchase Invoice, select Vendor No. = V00010, Lab Vendor and enter a Vendor Invoice

No.

4. In the Lines subform, click Line, Function, Get QC Documents

5. A screen will appear to allow the user to select the apropos QC Documents to be invoiced. Select the QC

Document completed in the prior section and click OK.

6. The QC Document is now on the lines of the invoice. You will need to populate the Direct Unit Cost Excl. Tax for

the sample testing cost.

7. Click Posting, Post in the ribbon.

8. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt.

9. The vendor invoice for the samples has now been posted. You can click No when prompted to open the posted invoice.

10. Close any open pages to return to the Role Center.
