Math 180The Math 180 curriculum engages students by making

meaning of math with rich contexts and instructional

strategies. With the use of teacher-facilitated instruction

blended with adaptive technology, each MATH 180 student

travels along a personalized learning path tailored to their

individual needs.

Students will not register for this course, although you may be contacted by your child’s counselor or myself later this year or this summer about adding this course to your child’s schedule based on Grade 5 teacher recommendation and standardized

test scores.

Special Education at SCMS

Inclusion classes - English and Math - one general education teacher and one

special education teacher. There are general education and special education

students in this class.

Supported classes - Science and Historical Inquiries in World Studies - one

general education teacher and one paraeducator. There are general education

and special education students in this class.

Self-Contained class - Resource - one special education teacher. This class

has only special education students in it.

PE/HEALTHDifference between Elementary and Middle School

● ES- Once a week. No locker rooms. Usually Inside for P.E.

MS- Every Day! PE for 3 quarters, Health 1 quarter rotation. (9 weeks)

● Students in P.E. are encouraged to change their clothes in the locker room before and after P.E.

class (will be given approx. 4 minutes). T-shirts, Shorts, Sweatpants, Sweatshirts ect…

● All students will be assigned a locker and expected to use it

● Spirit Wear (Optional and Online) will be available in the fall and the spring

● PE Units: Invasion, Net Wall, Striking/ Fielding, Target, Personal Fitness

● Invasion (Basketball, Soccer, Handball, Street Hockey ect…)

● Net Wall (Volleyball, Badminton, Tchoukball, Pickleball, Tennis)

● Striking/Fielding (Cricket, Softball)

● Target (Cornhole, Kanjam, Archery)

● Personal Fitness (Fitnessgram, Weight Room)

PE/HEALTH

● Health: 6th Grade Units include Mental/Emotional Health, ATOD, Personal Consumer

- No Family Life/Human Sexuality/Disease Prevention and Control

● Athletics: 7th and 8th Grade students only! (Cross Country, Softball, Basketball, Soccer)

● Intramurals: ALL grade levels. Afterschool when activity busses are running. No tryouts. Extension

of the P.E. program.
