The SVC Moving Image Experience- The mecca for digital media enthusiasts
Since SVC is located in the technology corridor where many of the digital media technologies and products have been created, built, and applied, (yes, Adobe World Headquarters is down the block) the Fair is the ideal forum for the discussion and appreciation of this fast growing art genre. We provide a context for the integration of motion image based artwork to be viewed, valued, and enjoyed alongside and on par with other traditional media, such as painting, fine art photography, works on paper and sculpture. The Fair’s goal is to present a selection of the most innovative and captivating moving image artworks produced recently.
World Renowned Digital Media Educator, Writer, Curator and Galleriest, Paul Young, joins the SVC Moving Image Team
SVC Moving Image Curator is Paul Young, of Young Projects, the west coast’s premiere
venue for moving imagery and large scale video projections. He has promoted, lectured and curated award-winning video art exhibits at museums and art fairs around the world, including Art Forum Berlin, Loop in Barcelona, The Fresh Paint Fair in Israel, Art Platform and PhotoLA.
Recognizing the Best Works and Artist
The Fair will be honoring video artist Gary Hill with the SVC Motion Image Innovator of the Year. To inspire fairgoers, a panel of experts present, Collecting Video Art: What You Need to Consider. We also present the SVC 2014 Moving Image Curator Pick, with a memorable work in each of 3 categories, New media, video installation and video art, all of which will be on display.
Opportunity to Showcase Your Digital Artists.
Galleries have the opportunity to sponsor/present an artist single channel video at $3,000 per LCD HDTV screen, and $5,500 for each single channel video projection in a 12 x 12 solo space for the duration of the fair. Gallery staff do not need to be present.

Welcome to the First Art Fair Ever in Silicon Valley

DEFINING STATE-OF-THE-ART
THE REGION’S FIRST INTERNATIONAL FINE ART FAIR
Silicon Valley is the only place on Earth not trying to figure out how to become Silicon Valley -Robert Metcalfe, co-founder of Ethernet and founder of 3Com
Why Now
1 As Silicon Valley matures, it becomes more Main St., although still evolving, vast wealth is being realized continually, which is a phenomenon not found anywhere else in America.
2 Well known as the technology innovation center of the world, the City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs and Team San Jose have partnered with the Fair in efforts to make SVC the region’s premier visual arts and cultural event.
3 The City of San Jose (10th largest in the US) is the cultural center of Silicon Valley with over 3 million residents, three art museums, a ballet company, a symphony and a major performing arts center.
4 The City of San Jose has an NHL team, the San Jose Sharks and the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers are moving to the Valley in August 2014. Silicon Valley will host the 2016 Super Bowl.
5 The Fair will be held at the best possible site for this event, the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, which recently underwent a dramatic $120 million expansion installing “The Idea Tree,” the cutting-edge of art and technology, as it prepares to host SVC 2014.
6 Many of the leading corporations in Silicon Valley are exploring and redefining the world of art and photography.
7 Many of the region’s corporations and venture capital firms, including Facebook, are starting and building fine art collections and some are even opening galleries in the offices.
8 A February 26, 2013 WSJ article, “The New High-Tech Donors” created considerable buzz in the art world, stating Silicon Valley power players are beginning to collect art.
9 Silicon Valley is comprised of several wealthy communities including 6 of the top 10 most expensive cities in America to buy a home are in Silicon Valley: Los Altos (average listing, $1.7 million), Saratoga, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Gatos and San Carlos.
