INTRODUCTION

The goal of this document is to develop a file that performs a silent installation of any

product of Adobe CS5 Suite. It targets computer technicians or technical supports who need toinstall any product of Adobe CS5 Suit for a huge number of computers in few minutes which

may take only one minute. Silent installation is useful of saving time. It is fact that some of

software needs half hour or more than one hour to be installed and some company needs to

install same software for more than one hundred computers. While silent installation takes

around one minute to do the installation without going through the tedious process for each

computer and without any active from the user. The user will need to do the customization for

the software only once for the silent installation, which will be done through this procedure, then

will not do the customization any more even if he/she install the software more than million

times.

To create the file of silent installation, technician will need to download Adobe

Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE) and installs it in workstation. AAMEE will

help in creating a MSI file that will be used in writing the code line for silent installation. Then

the code line will be written in text editor with pat extinction.

Missing one step from this file can cause failed to the final result. Documentation

provided on Cited References, page 13 & 14.

DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT

1. Computer: to do the process on.2. Any product of Adobe CS5 Suite: will be needed during the process to specify that silent

installation for this specific product.

3. Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE): will be needed to customize theinstallation.

4. Operating system of windows: this process specially for Microsoft.SYSTEM REQUIRMENTS

1. Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Home Premium, Business,Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (Service Pack 2 recommended), or Windows

7(System Requirements).

2. For Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects a Windows Vista of 64-bit or Windows 7 of64-bit edition is required(System Requirements).

3. 2GB of RAM (System Requirements).

DIRECTION

CREATING THE MSI FILE

1. Download Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition (AAMEE), youcan download it for free from this web site

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html

2. Double click on link that is related to Windows and the downloading will bestarted (See Fig 1).

3. Click Startbutton, point to All programs (see Fig 2).

4. Click Adobe folder.5. Click Adobe Application Manager Enterprise. TheWelcome window will pop

up (see Fig 3).

6. Click CREATE INSTALL PACKAGEbutton (see Fig 4).

An Install Package Window will prompt.

7. Type Name for the Package on the Package Name field.8.

Choose path for your Package on the Save tofield. Your package will be createdin the path that you have chosen.

9. Borrows to your Adobe CS 5 folder that has the setup.exefile in On the Locatethe Product Install Folderfield.

Note: you have to specify if your system support 32 bit or 64 bit.

10.Click Nextbutton (see Fig 5).

11.Enter the Serial Number (Product Key) on the Enter Serial Numberwindow,Then Click Nextbutton (see Fig 6).

12.Mark the Check Boxfor products that you want to install, Then Click Nextbutton (see Fig 7).

13.Customize your Package as you want by marking or removing the mark theCheck box On the Configure Package window.

Note:You have to Disable Product Launch Optionsfor the Silent Installation.

14.Click Nextbutton (see Fig 8).

The Updates Window will check if your Adobe CS5 cab be updated (see Fig 9).

15.Mark the Check boxfor products that you want to update, then ClickBuildbutton (see Fig 10).

16.Wait until the updated is done (see Fig 11).

17.Click Closebutton on the Summary Window (see Fig 12).

After last step the MSI file has been created.

WRITING THE COMMUND LINE FOR THE SILENT INSTALLATION

18.Double Click on the folder that has the package, you will find it in the path thatyou have chosen to save it in with the name that you have chosen for it (see Fig

13).

To take its path:

20.OpenStart button. Then Point to All programs (see Fig 16).

21.Click Accessories, Click Run (see Fig 17).

22.Drag the Install Packageto the Run Windowin the Open Field, Copy all thepath for the file (see Fig 18).

23.Open New text editorSuch as Notepad or any text editor you like to use.

24.Paste the MSIs pathon it, follow it with space then /quietparameter. You willhave like this commended line.

"C:\Users\Viola\Desktop\Install and Update package\Build\Install and Update package.msi"

/quiet

Note:if your Computer restart after the installation you can add /norestart parameter.

25.Save the file with bat extension, *.bat.26.Double Click on(the bat file), to use it.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. In case the code does not work, you can rewrite the code and replace /quiet with / more

"C:\Users\Viola\Desktop\Install and Update package\Build\Install and Update package.msi"

Then the window will provide you with list of instruction that can be used with this code. In

some cases you will need to use /q instead of /quit

2. If nothing works, just restart the computer. When the installation is happening, you willnot notice anything and you will not see anything. And sometimes you will not see the

installed software until you restart the computer.
