    Virtues and Benefits of Fasting

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) has stated:

There is no Mu'min, who fasts for a day in the month of Ramadhan with theintention of attaining its rewards, except that Allah, The Exalted, grants him 7

    excellences:

    1. The forbidden food that had entered into his body melts away.

    2. He moves closer to the Mercy of Allah, The Exalted.

    3. Allah expiates his sins.4. Allah reduces for him the agony of death.

    5. Allah protects him from the hunger and thirst of the Day of Judgment.

    6. He is granted pardon from the fire (of Hell).

    7. Allah provides him the good and pleasant food of Paradise.

The month of Ramadhan is the month in which Allah, The Mighty,

The Glorious, has made fasting obligatory upon you.

So one, who fasts in this month in a state of belief and with theintention of recompense, shall become free of his sins just as he

was on the day when his mother gave him birth.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the

    night of Al-Qadr (Decree).

And what will make you know what the

    night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?

    Imam Baqir (A. .) said:

In the Night of Qadr is decreed every thing

leasant and un leasant, o edience anddiso edience, irth and death, and livelihood

which would occur during the course of that year,

till the next Night of Qadr.

What to do in the Night of Glory or Power

When asked Imam Jafar ASSadiq (A), that how would the night

of Qadr be better than 1,000 months. Imam replied that worship

during the night of Qadr is better than the worship during 1,000

Months in which there is no night of Qadr

The span of 1,000 months is more thanthe average life span

Of a human being ( over 83 years). Hence, in this respect the

Night of Qadr is superior than an average life. We should

therefore, take full advantage of this sacred night to beseech

    for repentance and mercy.

Farewell to the Month of Ramadhan

O' God! Ordain not this month of Ramadhan

to be the last one for my fasts. But should you

ordain it to be so, then make meblessed and
