Preamble:

Dr Zakir Naik is the worlds most influential figure in Islam today. His ideas,

argumentative debates and interactive sessions have changed the minds ofmillions of human beings and has helped foster peace and justice in the world.The scientific rationale and logic applied by him in his lectures arecommensurate with the present times. Religious thought in India is achievingits pinnacle by the constant efforts of Dr Zakir Naik.His talks & lectures are a means of edification of human beings to know theirrelation with the Creator as defined by tenets of true Islamic faith which is oneof the Major world religion. Dr Zakir Naiks lectures are educative to persons of

diverse faiths who attend his programs and watch his videos of his lectureswhich are available at the IRF centre and at the program venues.

Objective of the Petition:Persons with vested interests are making unwarranted and illegitimate claimsagainst Dr Zakir Naik on grounds that he has hurt the religious feelings of acommunity, when his talks & lectures are not at all offensive and aimed atreformation of human beings. They are dignified & temperate. The rationalcriticism of religious tenets couched in a restrained language is permittedexercise of freedom of speech and expression and it is healthy and legitimate

criticism of religion which is part and parcel of the right to propagate religion asenshrined under Article 25 of the Constitution of India.Prayer:We, therefore jointly petition the Government of India & the Government ofMaharashtra to enforce its constitutional obligation to protect the free exerciseof religion by Dr Zakir Naik through his talks, lectures and debates and to setaside the indirect censorship by the executive machinery of the state whoseeks to infringe on the fundamental right to propagate religious thought by

means of attaching criminality to his objective of reformation of human beingskeeping in view the modern times. The propaganda sought to be created by

certain vested interests with malicious intentions need to be whittled away bythe citizens of India by extending their whole hearted support to Dr Zakir Naik.

We, the citizens of India do hereby fully support Dr Zakir Naik in his mission tospread the true Islamic Faith in India through talks, lectures & debates whichare not in any manner offensive. We hereby endore our signatures to thispetition as our gesture of support for the cause and mission of Dr Zakir Naik.
