Learning Objectives:

  -Students will be able to name the five senses and names a body part used for each sense.

  Students will learn which scent is being used.

Specific Objectives

  SIGHT: the sense of sight helps us recognize each other and learn about colors, motions and distance

  HEARING: It helps us learn from each other through communication. Sound can produce patterns.

  SMELL: help us enjoy life and learn unsafe conditions.

  TOUCH: learn about our world by feeling it and learning the size, texture and shape of things.

  TASTE: Taste helps us among other things to select and enjoy food, four familiar tastes.

Essential Questions:

 What are our five senses?  What parts of our body do we use for our

senses?  Why are our senses so important?

Activities:

  The class will watch a video about the five senses. Students will learn the five senses.

  TOUCH-Draw a hand using different textured fabric or objects (felt, fur, sandpaper, buttons)

  SIGHT-Place 10 items on a tray, Show each one to the class, hide the tray and remove one object. See if students can remember which object is missing.

  HEARING-Have students to put their hand over their throat. Then have them whisper, talk yell, hum, etc. to feel the vibrations of their larynx.

  SMELL-Put different scented materials into containers with holes in the top. students can try to identify the scent.

  TASTE-Try tasting a sweet, sour, bitter, and salty food.

Teaching Strategies

 Direct Instruction: I will use direct instruction to ask question to see if the students understand the work, I will help them see the purpose and the result of the activities. I will provide students clear explanations and illustrations of the subject matter, and set goals.
