SLIYR is a part of Sierra Leone International Ship Registry (Singapore) but operates independently.  SLIYR registers non-commercial yachts with maximum number of passengers - 12.

Serge Iantchichine is the head of SLIYR. He worked many years for the Vanuatu Maritime Authority as Deputy Commissioner of Maritime Affairs, specializing in yacht registration and issuance of yachting documents.Joseph Nyenetu Jarkloh is the administrator of SLIYR.

Registration of YachtsA yacht, registered in Sierra Leone, may be owned by an individual of any nationality or company registered in any country. However if you need an offshore company for yacht ownership, we can offer you incorporation of offshore companies in Liberia, a neighbor country of Sierra Leone.

PROCEDURE OF PERMANENT REGISTRATION

After receiving provisional documents, whose validity period is 3 months, an owner is required:

1. To send us the following original documents or certified copies (should be translated in English if documents are not in English):Builder’s Certificate (for new yachts)Deletion Certificate (for used yachts)Bill of Sale (should be notarized if seller is an individual)Copy of Owner’s Passport (if owner is an individual)Copy of Certificate of Incorporation (if owner is a company)

2. Attach to the stern of a yacht name and the home port - FREETOWN (one word) and to hang the flag of Sierra Leone (flag is free of charge).

3. To take a picture of the stern and sent to us by e-mail. After receiving the above documents, permanent documents, whose validity period is 5 years, will be sent to the owner.
