Modifications at a U.S. Army building in Germany to yield
tremendous savings and significantly reduce carbon footprint
-26%-33%
Annual Energy Costs
Carbon Emissions
At a U.S. Army base in Germany, Siemens made the following installations:
• A turn-Key Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant
• A Building Automation & Control System (BAS) that generates electricity through combustion while generating heating & cooling from waste energy
• Desigo CC BAS which links the central hot water facility – including Boilers & CHP – with 54 heating substations, optimizing distribution while producing low cost electricity
These modifications will result in major savings:
Additionally, micro grid implementation at the Garrison ensures that the army will be able to run a portion of its priority buildings WITHOUT energy from the commercial grid, thus strengthening energy security.

EURAFSWA Project Development
Overview
Sept. 2014 - Based on an Energy Savings
Performance Contract (ESPC) Notice of
Opportunity issued by US Navy, Siemens
has been selected as the sole ESCO to
deliver a Preliminary Assessment (PA)
Report.
Dec 2014 / August 2015 - Preliminary
Assessment (PA) phase
Nov 2015 / March 2017 – Investment Grade
Audit (IGA) phase
31 March 2017 - Final Proposal Submittal
31 September 2018 – Award of contract
Project goals:
•reduce energy consumption;
•provide more sustainable building
infrastructure
•explore the installation of renewable energy
sources.
