The.Major.Projects.Committee.met.on.5/14/2011.at.the.Bristol.Library.Safety.Fair..Members.Sandie.Scott,.Michele.Renta,.Teresa.Benvenuto,.Mel.Guimond.and.candidate.Tracy.Dutkiewicz.made.the.effort.to.pass.out.and.fit.110.bicycle.helmets.in.a.record.time.of.1.hour.and.50.minutes.
Sandie.did.the.registration.and.test..Tracy.helped.to.pre-size.the.helmets.in.advance..Michele,.Teresa,.Mel.and.I.fitted.helmets.to.a.variety.of.ages.and.sizes..In.the.end,.if.the.helmet.doesn’t.fit.right,.it.doesn’t.work.right..Our.goal.is.to.get.children.wearing.helmets.when.they're.young..Safety.first.is.our.motto.
I.could.not.leave.out.our.sponsor,.The.Bristol.Public.Library.and.Valerie.Toner,.Supervisor.of.Children’s.Services..She.does.all.the.foot.work..Without.her,.we.would.be.out.in.our.parking.lot.on.a.Saturday.after-noon.trying.to.drum.up.business..A.big.thank.you.goes.out.from.our.membership.for.helping.the.Bristol.Elks.meet.our.goals.
Later.on.this.year,.October.to.be.exact,.we.will.have.a.learn.not.to.burn.event..We.have.all.sorts.of.info.and.a.limited.number.of.smoke.and.CO.detectors..The.Bristol.FD.and.maybe.the.surrounding.communi-ties.will.be.invited..The.event.will.be.held.at.the.lodge..Plan.to.attend.and.look.for.a.date.in.the.call..
