Venerable Thich Nu Tri Thuan Personal ProfileNu Tri Thuan

Venerable Thich Nu Tri Thuan was born in Dong Ha, Quang Tri, Vietnam - in the year 1945 Nu Tri Thuan 1945Dong Ha, Quang Tri.Though her parents were not rich, she has from young helped her parents distribute rice to the poor; an act that planted the seeds of Bodhi in her.

A Divine Intervention Her life took a new turn when in 1963, she had on numerous occasions in her dream, been told to leave Vietnam. 1963As if her life journey was a divine intervention, not long after, she was adopted by an American family. Two years later, the Vietnam War began and on reflection, it was that persistent dream that prompted her to leave and escape the war.

Even though she was comfortably settled in Michigan, she has never forgotten the sufferings of the poor. In 1985, she decided to leave the comfort of her home and went to France to study Buddhism under her master, the late Most Venerable Thich Huyen VI. 1985Thich Huyen VI She was ordained as a Bikhuni in 1989 and her first great vow was to dedicate her life to help others. 1989

Life In India, 1989 1989 She decided that India was her destination and in 1989, she courageously faced every hardship to head the construction of a small run down temple in Kushinagar, IndiaThere were no electricity and water, nor enough funds to sustain her daily livelihood, and she used to joke that her only friends were the snakes that stayed in the temple 1989Kurshinagar

Even though she constantly faced setbacks, she never forgot her vow

Features It is located just 5 mins walk from the site of the Buddha entered into Nirvana

Contributions from devotees and tourists to the temple are now one of the sources of funds for her to carry out her humanitarian activities

As Mother Ji In her twenty over years in Kushinagar, she is addressed as Mother Ji (Tamils word for Most Respected) by the local peopleShe has taken 5000 poor kids off the street and fed, clothed, and placed them in school to educate them20Kurshinagar, . 5000

Her heart of compassion has saved many lives of the poor and the deprived

When asked what keeps her going ; she sleeps 4 hours a day and hardly have a rest day! She attribute it to her great vow of love and compassion for all sentient beings 4

At the age of 69 69 Instead of slowing down, she has made another great vow : to build a New - Born Buddha statue at Peace Park, Lumbini, Nepal to promote peace, love and happiness. 69It will be a place of pilgrimage and worship for buddhists of all tradition and also a place of harmony and interactions of all races and cultures.

The Stupa for Worship of the Buddha's Relics, the Stupa for Worshiping the Buddha, the Stupa for Worship in memories of the most Venerable Su Phu and Sangha who has passed away.

Since 2005, every year at the beginning of March, the Temple organizes a prayer ceremony for World Peace that lasts 7 days and 7 nights 2005377

To built a New-Born Buddha statue at Peace Park, Lumbini, Nepal to promote peace, love and happiness. It will be a place of pilgrimage and worship for Buddhists of all tradition and also a place of harmony and interaction of all races and cultures ,

To built a school on Temple ground in Kurshinagar to teach English, Vietnamese and offer vocational training to the poor and needy Kurshinagar
