Many think , that it is more gallant and
brave to take the fight to the enemy
and that the chances of winning are
greater.
But if one really considers the matter, it
is better to secure ones own
position first, before thinking of
winning.
THE UNDERSTANDING

The essential point is a worthy and spiritual goal that cannot be realized by martial arts or sports which strive only to
defeat others.
There is a difference between
<winning> and <not being
defeated>.
In the word ‘win’ there is a feeling of
beating up the opponent. While in
the word of ‘not being defeated’
there is the feeling of prevention or
protecting one self from being hurt.
THE SIMPLE ACT

The idea is simple, wait for the attack,
take proper defense steps, then
disarm or prevent the opponent
from further attack.
