Shrinkhala-The Operations Ambit

SJMSOM, IIT Bombay proudly presents “Shrinkhala” as a part of Avenues „2010, the

annual international Business festival of SJMSOM, IIT Bombay. It provides an

opportunity to the teams to manage various components of the value chain ranging

from the supplier to the distributor as they grapple with intermittent information

about demand, supply, inventory levels, quality etc.

The game is designed to test the participants on their forecasting skills, decision

making skills and analysing skills, how they approach the problem and how well

verse they are with the current and future trends of supply chain.

The event will be judged by the stalwarts from industry & academia .With problems

from industry brought to the table, event provides an opportunity for the budding

managers of supply chain to prove their mettle by providing innovative but feasible

solutions.

The event will be held in 3 stages for students of all B-Schools across India

Stage-1

• Online Simulation Supply Chain Game

• 40 teams will move to the next Stage

Stage -2

•Case study based - Participants will submit their operations plan

•5 teams whose plan shows the maximum profitabilty along with feasiblity will be chosen for stage 3

Stage -3

•Final Presentation about the Case has to be delivered in front of judges

•The team which comes out with the most effective plan wins.

General Rules:

A team can have a maximum of 2 members from the same institute

Event is open only for B –Schools students

Any number of teams can participate from an institute

One student cannot be part of more than one team

Registration for Shrinkhala involves the following steps:

First 200 teams registered will be allowed to participate in the Simulation

Game

Timings for the Trial run &simulation round will be communicated to the

registered teams

No change in the team structure is allowed after the team is registered.

All results will be declared on the avenues website http://www.sjmsom-

avenues.com/. Selected candidates will be informed through e-mail also.

The decision of the organizers of the event and the panel of judges will be final

and will be binding on all the participants.

Travel Reimbursement will be done for the teams coming to the campus for final

round.
