ANNUAL REPORT 2007- 08 It’s my great pleasure to present the Annual Report of the Department of Physical Education and

Sports on behalf of our college. For last several years we have been forming the body of Students’

Sports Council along with Sports Council for smooth working. The Sports Council was constituted

under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade and Dr. M. S. Wankhede was the

Secretary. The other members of the council were as follows:-

8. Boxing, Wrestling, Judo & W. L. : Mr. R. N. Gosavi & Mr. N. K. Kandalkar

Activities were conducted / organized :

a) Summer Coaching Camp: -

Yoga and Football :- We organized summer coaching

camp for yoga & football under the coaching of Mr.

Ramesh Mandal & Mr. Devendra Wankhade from 16th

April 2007 to 15th

May 2007. 18 & 45 students

participated respectively in Yoga and Football. The

camp was inaugurated by Mr. Salim Beg, President ,

Maharashtra Sepak-Takraw Association, while Dr.

Sukhadeo Bishwas & Prof. Baldeo Khanna were

present. Dr. Babanrao Taywade, Principal

presided over the function. Mr. Devendra

Wankhade conducted the programme and Dr. M.

S. Wankhede proposed a vote of thanks.

Softball:- We organized summer coaching camp

for Softball under the coaching of Mr. Bandu

Yavatikar & Mr. J. V. Jichkar from 25th

April

2007 to 15th

May 2007. 25 students participated in

the camp.

b) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahostava 2007: We organized Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh

Krida Mahostava 2007 from 27th to 29

th of Sept. 2007, for the eighth year consecutively, in which

Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Volleyball (Men & Women), Football, Basketball & Cricket (Men) were included.

Dr. B. B. Taywade made introductory remarks. Hon’ble Vilasrao Muttemwar, Minister for Non-

conventional energy (Independent Min.) was the Chief Guest. Hon’ble Arunkumar Shalke, President,

Shri. Shivaji Education Society, Amravati presided over the inaugural function, On the occasion of

the prize distribution Ceremony Hon’ble Anil Deshmukh, Minister of P.W.D. was the chief guest. On

the occasion prominent occupants of the dais were, Executive Member of SSES, Amravati and

Hon’ble N.N. Saste, Principal, Science College. Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade made introductory

remarks. Dr. M.S. Wankhede & Mrs. Archana Deshmukh conducted the proceeding and Mr.

Devendra Wankhade proposed a vote of thanks.

It is really a praiseworthy act that we are getting good response year after year for the Krida

Mahostava. In all 49 Colleges participated including 16 Men and o8Women teams in Kabaddi, Kho-

Kho-8 men, 18 men and 09 women in Volleyball, 10 in Basketball, 19 in Football, and 20 in Cricket.

c) Yashvantrao Chauhan Open University Krida Mahotsava-2007: -

The department of physical education &

Sports, Dhanwate National College, Nagpur

organized YCMOU Krida Mahotsava on

November 14-16, 2007. The games included

in the Mahotsava Inter-Division Kabaddi,

Kho-Kho, Volleyball & Basketball.

The Krida Mahotsava was inaugurated on

November 14, 2007 by Mr. Girish Gandhi,

MLC & Chairman of VANARAI. Principal

Dr. B. B. Taywade presided over the

function. Mrs. Archana Deshmukh

conducted the program & Mr. Devendra

Wankhade proposed a vote of thanks.

The Prize –distribution of the three-day Krida

Mahotsava took place on November 16, 2007

at 3.00 p.m. The function was presided over by

Principal Dr. B.B. Taywade. Aniruddha

Gawande & Babasaheb Bondre were present

on the occasion. Dr. M.S. Wankhede conducted

the program & Mr. Vinod Waghale proposed a

vote of thanks.

d) Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test: In addition to the above games & sports

activities, we conducted Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test of the students for the

degree college in the month of January 2008. Accordingly the statistical reports were submitted to the

University.

e) Organized R.T.M. Nagpur University Inter Collegiate Events: –

Cricket (Men): At Vasant Nagar ground R. T. M.

University zone, Semifinal & Final matches were

played during October 23 to November 01, 2007.

The final match was played between Sindhu

Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur & G.H. Raisony Institute,

Nagpur and Sindhu Mahavidyalaya won the

championship.

Volley Ball (Men): We organized R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate A-Zone Tournament

from October 17-18, 2007 & 20 teams of various colleges participated in it.

Ball Badminton Tournament (Men):-

R.T.M. Nagpur University Intercollegiate

Tournament was organized on December 11-

13, 2007, in which 27 teams of various

colleges participated. Principal Dr. B. B.

Taywade, Chairman, Department of Physical

Education, R. T. M. Nagpur University

inaugurated the tournament and Dr. S. S. Bire

presided over the function. The staff members

of the college and team managers were also

present.

f) Organized D.S.O. Inter Collegiate Cricket : - At Vasant Nagar ground C. K. Naidu Under -19

D.S. O. Tournament matches were played during August 31 to September 5,2007. The final match

was played between D.N.C. Nagpur & Dr. Ambedkar College, Nagpur but due to rain match was

postponed. The total 18 team participated in this tournament.

g) Annual Sports Day: In memory of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, the founder President of Shri Shivaji

Education Society, Amravati, various sports

activities were conducted on December 25,

2007, i.e. Annual Sports Day and the

students who showed outstanding

performance in shot-put, running, Musical

Chair & Cricket, were given medals and

certificates on 27th

Dec. 2006.

h) Felicitation :- Mr. M. G. Fukey, Head,

Department of physical education & sports,

retired on February 29, 2008, hence a formal

function of felicitation was organized in the

staff room to bid him farewell. On the

occasion the officiating Principal, Dr. S.S. Bire

was in the chair. Dr. P. S. Changole, HoD,

Department of commerce, Dr. M. S.

Wankhede, Secretary-Sports Council, & Dr.

Anant Deshmukh, Convener- Academic

activities expressed their views on this

occasion. Mr. Devendra Wankhade conducted

the function while Mr. R.N. Gosavi proposed a vote of thanks. In the end, Dr. S.S. Bire welcomed Mr.

D. C. Wankhade with a bouquet to hold the post of head department of physical education & sports.

i) Seminar :- The department of physical education & Sports organized a seminar on “ The physical

education and sports in R.T.M. Nagpur University : Plight & Perspectives” in collaboration with Dr.

Ambedkar College, Dikshaboomi, Nagpur & Nagpur University Physical Education Teachers

Association, on March-3, 2008, in the Dadasaheb Kumbhare Memorial Hall, Dr. Ambedkar College,

Dikshaboomi . The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Datta

Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur.

Mr. Arun Gadkari ex. Director , department of physical education & sports, Nagpur University,

delivered a key-note address. Mr. Sadanand Fulzele, Secretary, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak

Samittee, presided over the function. Mr. A. P. Joshi, conducted the function and Mr. Devendra

Wankhade proposed a vote of thanks. In all 130 delegates participated in the seminar.

The two technical sessions were observed. The valedictory function took place under the

chairmanship of Principal Dr. B.B. Taywade, Chairman, Board of Physical Education & Sports, R. T.

M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. Dr. J.A. Wairagade, Mr. L.R. Malviya, Mr. Vijay Barse, Principal Dr.

Reddy, Dr. Ambedkar College, were present on this occasion. Mr. A. P. Joshi conducted the program

and Mr. A.K. Pandey proposed a vote of thanks.

Participations: -

22 Men & 12 women teams of the college participated in various games & sports of the R. T. M.

Nagpur University Intercollegiate and other tournaments as under: -

a) Nagpur University Intercollegiate tournament: - Athletics, Basketball, Cross- Country, football,

Hockey, Handball, Judo, Power lifting, Kabaddi, Korfball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball (Men &

Women) Badminton, Boxing , Ball badminton, Cricket, Chess, , Half marathon, , Kho-Kho,

Malkhamb, Swimming, , Wrestling & Yogasana for Men.

b) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahostava 2007: - Kabaddi, Volleyball -Men & Women,

Basketball, Football, and Cricket (Men).

Cricket: - Late Dadasaheb Karnewar Intercollegiate Tournament, and Dr. Babasaheb Amedkar Law

College Cricket Cup, & Krik- Mania 2007.

Football: - P. W. S. College Tournament, (October 10-15, 2007), and Reven Stefian Hislop College

Football Tournament (October 12-16, 2007)

Volleyball: - Late Binnu Pande Memorial Championship (January 2-5, 2008).

Chess: - 3rd

Vidarbha Intercollegiate Chess Tournament (December 5-7, 2007).

Achievements: We put efforts to train our

players at least one month before the

respective games & sports so that they may

be well trained to win a name & fame for

themselves as well as for college. In Dr.

Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahotsava we

won the General Championship.

HANDBALL: - The team won the R T M Nagpur University Championship third time and Mr.

Piyush Murkute, Mr. Badal Gedam & Mr.

Singha Muttu Shivaswamy were selected in the

University team and participated in the West

Zone Inter University Tournament held at

Gunter from Oct.30 to Nov. 3, 2007. Other

members of the team were Anup Mendhe, Agam

Kohali, Rahul Lonare, Atul Bhange, Syed

Zakullah, Ajit Singh, Yogesh Dhuriya, Vinayak

Halami & Sandeep Selokar.

Basketball: - Our college team has won R T M Nagpur University Championship second time and

Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Inter Collegiate,

Basketball championship. Mr. Sandeep Selokar,

Mr. Anil Nair, Mr. Sanjot Shirpurkar, Mr. Nitin

Ratnparkhi, were selected for University team

and played the Interuniversity Tournament held at

North Maharashtra University Jalgaon, from

November 1-11, 2007. Other members of the team

were Mr. Manav Rawat, Ajinkya Deshmukh , Mr.

Akash Katole, Mr. Nirmal Ekka, Dharmendra

Hedau, Akash Johari, and Sugand Sharma.

Volleyball: - Our college team was runners up in late Binnu Pande Memorial Championship and Dr.

Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahotsava under the captainship of Mr. Vinit Charan, who was selected

for University team and played the Interuniversity Tournament held at Jiwaji University Gwalior from

7th to 12

th October 2007. Other members of the team were Amit Talande, Amol Joshi, Deepak

Pakhade, Rakesh Bhandwalkar, Kanode, Om Prakash Mishra & Ajay Singh.

Individual Achievements: - Karan Paleriya secured second Place in Swimming 200 mtr., Roshan

Nimbarte First place in Judo, Pankaj Karemore first place in Athletics Meet 1500 mtr & first place in

Ashwamedh selection trails 800 mtr.

JUNIOR COLLEGE : Our college teams participated in inter-collegiate Kho-kho, Kabaddi,

Volleyball, Handball, Ball badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Softball, Baseball, Swimming, Malkhamb,

Wrestling, Taekwon do, Skating & Athletics. Our college Volleyball & athletics teams performed

very well & Volleyball team won the District championship and participated in Divisional

Tournament. Kabaddi, Softball, Baseball and Cricket team were runners up in District Tournament.

Felicitation : The students, who

represented Inter University, National, State,

Ranji Competitions & secured first position

in University Tournament, were felicitated

and presented with track-suits, shoes,

mementoes & certificate on the occasion of

Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Jayanti on

December 27th

, 2007.

Physical activities & Sports play an important

role in human resource development & exercise is an important requirement for good health.

It is only due to the efforts of our dynamic Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade who provided all the required

facilities & valuable guidance, we could organize such events. I take this opportunity to thank him on

behalf of our staff, students & Physical Education Department for rendering these facilities. We hope

that the blessings of Hon’ble Principal will continue to be with us. I must express my deep regards for

the Secretary, Sports Council & in- charge of various games & my colleagues. And specially thanks

to my retired Head of the department Mr. M. G. Fukey. They are indeed a source of inspiration to me.

Their guidance & co-operation have been an impetus to boost up our interest and activate potentials of

students. I would like to extend my cordial thanks to all those who helped directly & indirectly in all

these activities
