In 1979, a group of 43 community leaders and business people formed the non-profit 5th Avenue Theatre Association and underwrote a $2.6 million loan to renovate the theater. This made it suitable again for live performances and filled Seattle’s need for a touring Broadway musical venue. The 5th Avenue Theatre is deeply grateful for the commitment and vision of these community leaders.
