Extreme Wide Shot
• The view is so far from the subject that they aren’t visible. It is often used as an establishing shot, providing an initial context for a film .
Wide Shot
• The subject takes up the full from, showing their full body from head to toe. This provides a basic viewing of a subject. Normally, it shows the character(s) costume and location.
Mid Shot
• Shows some part of the subject in more detail. From the waist upwards.
Medium Close Up
• This is halfway between a mid shot and a close up. It shows the subject from their chest upwards.
Close Up
• A certain part of the subject takes up the whole frame.
Extreme Close Up
• The ECU shows extreme detail. Usually, the subjects eyes and nose, to emphasise emotions.
