Course Title: Short Course on Environmental Compliance Course Code: ENV20 Course Description: This course will prepare the attendee to align their company to minimise liabilities with respect to environmental legislation and how to interact with audit, inspection and enforcement processes. This training provides the foundation for environmental compliance, both in industry and in wildlife-related human activities. This training encompasses a legal perspective on environmental compliance and enforcement. Implications for the regulated community will be addressed in detail. Who should attend? The regulated community (industry / developers, etc.) and government officials, as well as any individual who is involved in internal legal compliance audits following the ISO 14000 family of standards will benefit from the course. The course will also be applicable to individuals and students who are involved in environmental legal compliance in industry, local government, provincial or central government as well as managers of companies that have activities with environmental impact or environmental managers that are subject to environmental inspection by the authorities. Managers of companies that wish to ensure that they are environmentally compliant wil also benefit from this training. How attendees will benefit? Introduction to Environmental Compliance and Enforcement

authorisations and enforcement mechanisms

Overview of several Acts including waste; biodiversity; water; mining and

coastal management with the focus on liabilities; criminal law; law of

evidence and criminal enforcement action as well as administrative

enforcement action.
