april to october 2016 Tuesday to Friday oR Friday to monday

Day 1: Direct flight from Iceland to the Faroe Islands. Pick up rental car. Drive along the coast and through colourful villages. From the village of Eiði via the panorama road to the scenic village of Gjógv. On route see the historical stacks, “Giant and the Hag” two rock columns just of the coast north of Eiði. In addition, you will see the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur (882 m).

Day 2: Enjoy your day in Gjógv, known for its natural harbour, and a must see when visiting the Faroe Islands. Walk around in the mag-nificent nature and relax on Crown Princess Mary´s bench with breath taking views of the nearby islands. In the afternoon, drive to a nearby village to visit a private home to

enjoy a coffee, cake and a nice chat with your host.

Day 3: Drive to the capital, Tórshavn and enjoy a private City walk. Walk through the old part of Tórshavn, Reyn and Tinganes. When you enter the old town, you will find yourself in a confusion of lanes and narrow passages, steps and rocks and tiny black-tarred houses, a genuine town from the Middle Ages. This area not only unique in the Faroes but in the world. On your own, visit the village of Kirkjubøur, which is the historical and cultural centre. The evening is at your own leisure. You will find various restaurants and cafés where you can have excellent food.

Day 4: Depart with direct flight to Iceland.

monday: Direct flight from Iceland. Upon arrival, driver/guide will pick you up at the airport. Visit the unique village of Gásadalur to enjoy the impressive view of the village with its characteristic waterfall that runs into the ocean. On the drive toward Tórshavn, you take the scenic mountain road to the top of Sornfelli 749 m. The view over the islands is quite fantastic and not one you will ever forget. In the evening you have reservations at Restaurant Áarstova, a little gem located in an old heritage protected building in the heart of Tórshavn. It is a charming place with exposed beams, small doors and odd angles. This place is all about ambiance and great food.

Tuesday: Before leaving Tórs havn, walk with your guide through the old part of town to explore a genu-ine town dating from the Middle Ages. With driver/guide drive along the coast and through colorful villages. Visit the old bookstore and the cafe Kaffihúsið down by the har-bour. Excursion to the Vestmanna Cliffs. Via the mountain road to the village Vestmanna where the excur-sion boat awaits. The boat will take you through narrow sounds, into deep grottoes carved by the surf through ages, and close to the over 1500 feet high-rise cliffs where seabirds are nesting. The evening is at your own leisure, but we suggest dinner at Restaurant Áarstova, an old protected building in the old part of town.

Sunday: Day tour to the Saga Island of Sandoy and village of Kirkjubøur. Sandoy is one of the most unspoiled islands where one can still experience the traditional Faroese lifestyle. Experience a church visit, fan tastic scenic views, small villages and bird cliffs. Before returning to Tórshavn, you will make a stop in Kirkjubøur – the Faroe Islands’ historical and cultural centre. The picturesque old farm is home to a family who for 17 generations have run the farmstead and ecclesiastic site. See the unfinished Magnus Cathedral and the small medieval church of St.Olav. The evening is at your own leisure.
