Key Reel TechnologyTh e features that make our reels extra special

AR-C Spool Management SystemTh rough tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations

it has been determined that this new AR-C spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing

backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to ow o of the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap

on the stripper guide. Th is means longer casts with less friction.

CI4Th e strength and rigidity of a metal bodied

reel at a signi cantly reduced weight. Technology from the ultra-demanding world of

competitive pro cycling, backed by seven wins in the toughest race of them all: the Tour de France.

Zero corrosion, longer gear life plus stunning looks. C14 is a material created by the interfusion of

carbon and polyamide. Initially developed by our cycling division for the Dura Ace brake bracket,

a agship technology which has now made the transition into the bodies of shing reels. Th e upshot is

a reel whose precision inner workings are housed within a protective shell with all the performance advantages of metal but weighing less and therefore reducing arm

HD GearTh e HD (High Durability) gear is a further improvement of the famous Shimano 3D Gears. Applying a special new coating results in a much stronger and smoother running gear system.

After the anodization process is complete, a second

surface treatment is applied to force out any remaining

impurities. Th e result is a nish which provides no hiding place for salt, and a spool which is

incredibly smooth to the touch. A reel with E.I. treatment has more than double the corrosion

resistance of a standard anodized spool.

S A-RBTh ese shielded A-RB bearings use either a rubber

shield or stainless steel shield (depending on bearing size) for the ultimate in corrosion

resistance and contaminant protection.

XSHIPEXTRA SMOOTH &

HIGH POWERTh e pinion gear is supported

at both ends by our S-ARB bearings. Th is gives a super smooth operation. A larger

diameter drive gear transmits more power to the pinion

gear. Th e result is a smoother and higher powered retrieve.

Aero Wrap IIAerowrap II is a worm gear oscillation

system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the

ARC lip design. It provides uniform line lay and winding shape to prevent loss of energy

during cast while providing longer casts than other oscillation systems. So, casting

distance increases with less e ort required.

Cold ForgingCold Forging (a Shimano proprietary technology) is the heart of Shimanos quality engineering and manufacturing. It enables us to make components out of one piece metal which assures increased strength, higher abbrasion resistance, higher resistance against impact damage and rigidity. Cold Forging is used on drive gears, spools and handles.

Each incarnation of this reel raises the bar still further for small xed spools in terms of performance; this reel proves the old saying that small is beautiful is as true now as it ever was!

Th e pearl-white body cosmetic has become synonymous with Stradic, and the range is renowned for its combination of quality and performance. Its no surprise then that the Stradic has found so many

followers. Available in 1500, 2500, 3000 and 4000 size versions, the Stradic GTM-RC incorporates XT-7 body and rotor, AR-C Spool, Diecast Gear, S two piece bail plus a single anodised cold forged

Aluminium spool and XT-7 spare. As with the TwinPower Ci4, the 4000 spool is a shallow version with a line capacity equal to the 3000.

Th e Super GTM-RCs super fast retrieve ratio of between 5.8:1 (4000) and 6.0:1 (2500, 3000) results in 20% more line retrieved for every turn of the handle, making the GTM ideal for speed shing and repeated casting. To provide the required smoothness at high speed the Super GTM is tted with 3 Shielded stainless steel ball bearings, a roller

With its midnight blue body and gunmetal grey Cold Forged Aluminium main spool, the Baitrunner DL comes with a spare XT7 graphite spool as standard. Both have prodigious line capacities 430 yards of 12lb on the 10000 and 300 yards of 10lb on the 6000 and are powered by a Diecast Drive Gear backed by three Shielded Stainless Steel bearings plus a roller bearing. Other features include Super Stopper II, Dyna-Balance, Floating Shaft II and a Power Roller to minimise line twist.

In classic black with an XT-7 spool nished in silver, the ST models are packed with far more advanced features than youd reasonably expect to nd on a Baitrunner at this price point. Following the massive success last year of the new smaller Baitrunner DL and ST, this year sees the launch of the Baitrunner XT in 2500 and 4000 sizes. Designed for lighter specimen and specialist angling, the XT combines the Baitrunner free spool facility with a silky smooth multi-disc front drag for versatile performance over a wide range of methods, from predator shing through to carp. Possessing many technological features from the top of the range Shimano specimen reels, the XT has 4 stainless steel shielded ball bearings and a roller bearing for super smooth, reliable performance. A Cold Forged AR-C spool with Varispeed line lay makes this reel perfect for thin mono and braided lines, and o ers excellent casting performance every time. With a powerful 4.8:1 retrieve ratio and Diecast gears, the new XTs might be small, but they are tough and can cope with just about everything from hard ghting carp to Pike, Zander and Barbel.

Since their introduction, the small sized Baitrunner DL FA reels, available in 2500 and 4000 size have opened up a whole host of freespool shing applications never catered for by Shimano in the past. DTh ese digital controlled reels have their own power station that creates electricity, which powers the magnetic brake system and therefore avoids over-runs. Th is reel also has a precise working drag with Dartanium washers for total control in extreme conditions. Th e oversized gear box ensures a better balance between rod & reel compared to conventional baitcasting reels.

With 10 A-RB bearings and 1 Roller Bearing (thats the equivalent of 14 bearings); the Calais is as

smooth as it looks. An easy access side plate allows the VBS system to be tuned quickly, whilst the star drag with Dartanium drag washers means

that clutch adjustment is just a turn away. Other features include Greaseless Spool Support Bearings that reduce friction on the cast, Cold Forged handle

shank, Metal Series frame and Super Stopper.

Th e Calais DC has 4 di erent modes of cast, each with 8 stages to give a combination of 32 di erent patterns of

braking capabilities to suit all shing conditions. Adjusting this braking system is also extemely easy; the angler only

needs to set the mode to suit the style and shing condition before ne tuning with the external braking knob to get

perfect casts every time.

It is for the excellent casting of metal lure like a spoon, spinner

jigs and metal jigs etc. Ideally used for distance under the conditions where tail wind is present. Th e biggest energy immediately after the cast is fully utilized to the extreme, with maximum rpm being raised.

In a head wind when the lure speed is severely a ected by

the wind, this mode cuts down backlash in this condition to give extended casting distance.

To get optimum accuracy to cast via pitching method

etc. It brakes throughout the cast and it is used for short but accurate distance casting. It is ideal for pitching to cover in snaggy conditions and especially useful when matched with a glass rod where the reel will compensate for accuracy over the glass rod.

For plus with multi or shifting points of centre of gravity and

where there is little vibration by the lure when it is in its trajectory state during the cast. Th is mode will stop overrun immediately after the cast via the circuit board to extend the casting distance.
