• A virtual machine is a tightly isolated software container that can run its own operating systems and applications as if it were a physical computer. A virtual machine behaves exactly like a physical computer and contains it own virtual (ie, software-based) CPU, RAM hard disk and network interface card (NIC).

•Automatic Shutdown of desktops/laptops after hours
•Black screens or Static Screensavers instead of active screensavers
•Measure power consumption of ICT as a component of total power use
•Reduce number of printed pages per employee per month
•Include green ICT requirements in procurement RFP’s
• Procure more energy efficient equipment(e.g. laptops consume ¼ power of a desktop and less raw material.)
•Thin clients and Virtualisation
•Energy efficient standards
•Carbon calculator for meetings
