Sheridan will be opening a new Mississauga Campus in the fall of 2011 and will be located in the city centre of Mississauga. The campus will accommodate 1,760 students, including 1,200 business students. Business study options will include a variety of diploma and graduate certificate programs.

ESL/EAP English Language StudiesSheridan offers full-time, intensive English as a Second Language classes for students who want to improve their English skills for personal, professional or academic reasons. The highest level, English for Academic Purposes (EAP) can provide students with a conditional acceptance into a diploma, degree or post-graduate certificate at Sheridan.

Program Features:• 5 levels of instruction: Foundation, Pre-intermediate,

Intermediate, Advanced and EAP• Each of the first four levels consists of an A and B module• Each session is 7 weeks (25 hours/week)• Students are tested upon arrival

Sheridan’s Programs

Sheridan offers a wide range of credentials to suit your interests and ambitions. Sheridan’s Diploma, Degreeand Post-graduate Certificate studies are offered through four distinct academic schools within the institution. Students choose the type of study, length of study, campus, and in some cases, whether they would like a program with a co-op component to it. Over 100 programs are offered through the following academic schools:

Our reputation for excellence extends across each of our academic schools. While we are perhaps best known for the success of our animation and film graduates, Sheridan alumni, students and faculty consistently gain national and international recognition, making us one of the most celebrated postsecondary institutions in Canada.

School of Animation, Arts and Design The School of Animation, Arts and Design offers innovative learning opportunities in a wide variety of artistic fields. In addition to Bachelor’s degrees, the School offers a number of joint degree programs, as well as diploma and graduate certificate programs in the areas of Digital Media and Communications, Performing Arts, and Visual Arts and Design.

School of Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences The School of Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences trains students in the fields of applied computing and telecommunications, engineering and manufacturing sciences, and industrial technology. Graduates of the School of Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences do work that will provide people with better ways to live, communicate with each other, protect the environment, and provide the information, supplies, products and services we all rely on.

School of Business Sheridan’s School of Business prepares you for a successful career by focusing on the real-world needs of businesses today such as managing growth, surviving competition, balancing cash flow, considering tax implications and building relationships. Graduates of our programs work in every area of business, from managing their own small companies to running Fortune 500 firms.

School of Community and Liberal Studies If you are an imaginative, innovative and creative person, this School will prepare you to use your talents in working with people of different ages in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Bachelor Degree programs combine the theory and critical thinking of a university program with hands-on, applied learning and a practical work term. Top employ-ers compete for these graduates and entrance into the programs themselves can be highly competitive.

Diplomas

The majority of Sheridan students choose our specialized diplomas because they are looking to connect seamlessly into the Canadian job market. These programs, designed in cooperation with industry partners, equip students with the skills that are in demand in today’s workplace. These up-to-the-minute diplomas are also the link to universities across Canada and around the world for many of our graduates. We offer two year diplomas and three year advanced diplomas.

Post-graduate (Ontario College Graduate Certificates)

Students who have completed a university degree or college diploma may wish to choose a practical alternative to traditional Master’s level study. These one-year certificates are designed to make the connection between a degree or diploma in today’s global economy by developing hands-on skills that are in demand by business and industry. To further enhance the relevance of Sheridan’s graduate certificates, many include a paid co-op component to assist International Students in connecting to the Canadian job market.

Foundation Programs Art Fundamentals Art Fundamentals focuses on drawing, design and painting, including art theory and studio practice. This allows students to assess which area of the visual arts is most appropriate to their talent and ability. Project-based courses develop a portfolio of work in various media. This is the first step for many students aspiring to go on to Sheridan’s BAA degrees in Animation and Illustration.

Media Fundamentals

Media Fundamentals offers foundation curriculum in film, television and print media, allowing students to assess which area is most applicable to their interest and ability. The program combines academic skill sets in researching, writing and speaking with practical skills in basic computer, audio, television and film production.

Performing Arts – PreparationThis preparation program is designed for students who are looking for a comprehensive introduction to the many aspects of performing arts, and a challenging learning environment to help develop their audition, performance and technical production skills.

ResidenceSheridan’s residences feature modern, clean facilities; a safe, smoke-free environment; and fully furnished suites with common kitchen and laundry facilities.

Social Service WorkerSocial Service Worker - Gerontology

The Social Service Worker Program has a number of linkages with universities which provide further educational opportunities for graduates of this program.

Mobile ComputingSheridan has one of the largest and most advanced Mobile Computing programs in Canada, with over 5,000 students benefiting from the integration of laptop computers into their learning experience. Students in Mobile Computing programs are required to own a laptop computer that complies with their program’s hardware and software standards. Our Mobile Computing programs allow students to learn in the way in which they will need to work after graduation: collaboratively, using online resources.

Q1. When can I apply?

A. You can apply at any time throughout the year. However, we encourage you to apply by February 1 for our September intake, and October 1 for our January intake. Further documentation such as final transcript, TOEFL/IELTS can be sent after this date.

Q2. What is Sheridan’s TOEFL institution code?

A. Sheridan’s TOEFL institution code is 9117.

Q3. Do I need to send my TOEFL or IELTS score with my application ?

A. You can provide this at a later date. However, until we receive it your offer of acceptance would be conditional.

Q4. Where do I find a testing centre to write the TOEFL and IELTS exam?

Q5. What should I do if my academic documents are not in English?

A. If your academic documents are not in English, you must provide a notarized English translation.

Q6. Are there any scholarships/awards or financial assistance available to international students?

Q7. What do I do after receiving my letter of acceptance?

Q8. Is the health insurance that is provided through Sheridan mandatory?

A. Yes, it is mandatory and included in your tuition fees.

Q9. Do you have a homestay program?

A. If you are interested in a homestay program, Sheridan refers students to Homestay Connection at www.homestayconnection.ca or Golden Source International Inc. at www.goldensource.ca

Q10. Can I work in Canada while I am attending Sheridan ?

A. Yes, you are allowed to work on campus while you are studying full-time. You may also be eligible for an off-campus work permit after studying full-time for 6 months with a minimum GPA average of 2.0. You can also apply for a work permit if your program of study has a cooperative education (co-op) option. After you complete your program you are eligible to apply for a post-graduate work permit within 90 days of program completion. For more information please visit www.cic.gc.ca

We require one of the following English requirements: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Please see minimum scores below.

TOEFL iBT - 80 with a minimum of 20 in each section

Degree and Postgraduate ApplicantsIELTS – 6.5 overall band

Applicants with a minimum of 3 years high school or post-secondary studies in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean, Singapore, U.S. or U.K will be exempt from TOEFL/IELTS requirements.

Conditional Admission from Sheridan’s English Programs: Students enrolled in Sheridan’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course may be offered conditional admission to a diploma or postgraduate certificate program pending successful completion of the EAP program. Diploma applicants must achieve a minimum 70% EAP score and postgraduate certificate and degree applicants must achieve a minimum of 75% EAP score.
