    OUR GLOBAL BUSINESSES

    Shell works in more than 70 countries andterritories, and employs around 94,000 people.

    Those people work across a diversity of Shellcompanies, grouped, broadly, as Upstream,

    Downstream and Projects and Technology.

    Our Upstream businesses comprise UpstreamAmericas – USA, Canada and Brazil – andUpstream International, which has majorinterests in Europe, Asia, the Middle East,Russia, Australia, Oceania and Africa.

    Upstream refers to the ways we find andextract crude oil, natural gas and bitumen,

    while Downstream refers to the ways wetransform them into products for sale toretail and commercial customers.

    We provide gas for cooking, heatingand electrical power; fuels and lubricantsfor transport; and chemical productsfor plastics, coatings, detergents andmany other appliances.

    Businesses within our Downstream organisationturn crude oil into refined petrochemicalproducts which are traded, marketed anddistributed globally. These include conventionalfuels, lubricants, bitumen and biofuels.

    Our Projects and Technology organisation

    provides technical services and technologycapabilities in Upstream and Downstreamactivities. It manages the delivery of projectsand helps to improve performance acrossthe company.

    We also recruit graduates to work across Shellcorporate functions, such as Finance, HumanResources, Contracting and Procurement andInformation Technology.

    On-the-job experience in thisarea entails 3 different RoleRotations over 2.5 years.The objective is to give youcompetencies and insights into thevalue chain and trading operations,supported by formal training andprogress checks, towards becominga top industry trader.

    In a technical discipline, you spend2 to 3 years on competence-basedtasks and a course of formal learningwith the support of technical coaches.A progress check every 6 monthsensures you’re on track.

    HANDS-ON PLACEMENTS TO HELP YOUDISCOVER YOUR STRENGTHS ANDDEVELOP YOUR SKILLS.

    Our placement programme is designed towiden in scope, enabling you to prove yourselfin different situations, over time.

    As you move through different experiences onlive projects, we’ll provide you with continuouslearning in the form of training courses,e-learning modules and workshops.

    ONLINE APPLICATIONAt www.shell.com/graduates, choose the AssessedInternship or Shell Recruitment Day, depending on your

     year of study. Complete an application form and uploadan up-to-date copy of your CV/resumé. Make sure youare eligible to work in the country you’re applying to.

    PART 1Competency-based questions.The first part of the onlineassessment is not timed, butwill take you around 20 minutes.Once completed and submitted,

     you’ll receive an email notificationof the outcome. Candidates whosuccessfully complete section onewill then be sent a separate emailto complete part two.

    PART 2Decision-making andproblemsolving tasks.The second part of the onlineassessment consists of two tasks:a decision-making task thatassesses how you respond tocommon situations that Shellgraduates may face; and aproblem-solving task thatassesses your capacity forsolving numerical problems.

    The decision-making task is nottimed, but the problem-solvingtask does have a time limit. This

    assessment should take around45 minutes to complete in total.

    ONLINE ASSESSMENTOnce your application has been successfullysubmitted, you’ll receive an email notificationwith instructions on how to complete an onlineassessment. This has two parts. Each must becompleted and submitted within seven workingdays. Practice tests are available online.
