Note: Over the last 15 years, I have mentored several trainees, one of whom is an associate
professor at Pennsylvania State University (Dr. Karyawasam) and the other is a tenured associate
professor at University of California-Davis (Dr. Zhou). In addition, one of my other former PhD
students, Dr. Abdul-Careem, is tenured associate professor of viral immunology at University of
Calgary. My former PDF, Dr. Mallick, is also an assistant professor in India. In addition, four of
the visiting scholars (Drs. Javaheri, Mayameei, Shams and Akbari) that I hosted in my lab are
now serving as faculty members at universities in Iran, one of whom was a Dean at the
University of Semnan. Dr. Jibo was also a visiting scholar in my lab. He is now Director of a
research institute in China. Many of my former students are now conducting their post-doctoral
research in Canada and the US or are in medical and veterinary schools. Two of my former PhD
students are now working in industry (Elanco and Ceva) as research scientists.
