Latest News From PLP Suction Dredge Mining Cases-Miner’s Case Status Statement

November 8th, 2016

Hello Friends!

As most of you already know, it's been a tough summer as the miners were dealt a legal setback in the California

Supreme Court with the Rinehart decision. PLP's legal battle in the dredging cases in San Bernardino had been put

on hold until Rinehart, and now that hold has been lifted. Here is the statement from our attorney, Mr. James Buchal,

which was filed in Judge Ochoa's court. We are sharing it here so you can be up to date with what PLP is doing in

the battle to get the miners back in the water.

PLP has been involved in this long legal fight since the beginning in 2009! There is more to do before this fight is

over so stay tuned; we will let you know what you can do to help with the next steps going forward.

Guided Metal Detector Outings: Guided metal detecting outing usually occur on the Second Sat. morning after our regular

scheduled meeting. The location of the hunt is announced at the general meeting. If you are unable to attend the meeting please contact Bill Doyle, Metal Detecting Chair. Email: [email protected] or call (530) -549 -3039

Guided Claims Outings: Guided Claims outings are scheduled the first Sat. following the general meeting. For more infor-mation contact Michael Abernathy, Claims Chair. Email: [email protected] or call 530) 638 -6717

Report on October Metal Detecting Outing Due to the inclement weather, I did not go to the outing at Boulder Creek; however, if any brave souls braved the rain, I would

like to hear of your hunt.

An important part of metal detecting that I have stressed in the past is learning your detector and successful skills. I suggest that

you read the entire manual for your detector and become familiar with the various adjustments and programs that your machine

has to offer. These manuals also give hints regarding the proper swinging and height of the coil to the ground, the speed of your

swing, and how to make the proper adjustments to the machine for maximum results. While in the field try different adjustments

concerning the sounds for desired targets, as well as the various use of discrimination.

As experts in the field of detecting agree, only about 1% of detecting is luck, 33% equipment, 33% skill, and 33% mental attitude.

Good hunting.

Bill

Hello Fellow Miners, Membership, chairperson

Happy mining!!!

Hope everyone survived the ghosts and goblins. I can’t believe it is already November. Remember this month

we vote for officers, board members and miner of the year. Mike Russell will be taking over the membership

Chair beginning the first of the year. Cindy Russell will take on the challenge of producing the newsletter as

well first of the year. Thank you. Look for the Christmas Party Reservations Form. They should be out before

the Nov. meeting. WE have great raffle prizes this year.

I hope to see you all at the next meeting.

Mike is out of town working, So I am stepping in to help

out with the outings.

October’s outing was a lot of fun for those who attended.

We met at Chicks Place at 9 a.m. and explored the claim.

A lot of the claim had been worked the previous summer

but there were still plenty of places to be worked that were

bearing gold. Some of the members went down to bulldog2

and made good progress there. Newer members: Curtis,

Ken, and Mark found enough gold in the pan to keep the

fever going. New member Dan and his daughters and girl-

friend came out to say hi and see the claims in French

Gulch, then traveled to Can-Do claims to explore. He

shared some pictures of some his past finds that were pret-

ty spectacular. Knowledgeable member, Jim Rankin fresh

off of his back surgery, found the most color in the pan.

The water flow in the creek has not risen too much and

should prove for a fun outing in November!

See you at the meeting,

Jim Rankin
