Our projector uses a single LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel. This very sophisticated panel contains Total of 181,470 dots(RGB Trio 60,490 Pixels) TFTs. (Thin Film Transistors). As with any high technology electronic equipment such as largescreen TVs, video systems and/or video cameras, there are certain acceptable tolerances that the equipment must conformto.

Sharps acceptable tolerances permit a total of six (6) inactive TFTs, which may result in illuminated dots on the pictures c r e e n .

This will not affect the picture quality or the life expectancy of the unit.

*Specifications are subject to change without notice.

    ///////////////////UV-RADIATION PRECAUTION

////////////////////The light source, metal halide lamp, in the LCDprojector emits small amounts of UV-Radiation.

AVOID DIRECT EYE AND SKIN EXPOSURE.

To ensure safety please adhere to the following:

    1. Be sure to wear sun-glasses when servicing theprojector with the lampturned on and the topenclosure removed.

UV-Radiation and Medium PressureLamp Precautions1. Be sure to disconnect the AC plug when replacing

the lamp.2. Allow one hour for the unit to cool down before

servicing.3. Replace only with same type lamp. Type

CLMPF0044DEOl rated 6OV/125W.4. The lamp emits small amounts of UV-Radiation,

avoid direct-eye contact.5. The medium pressure lamp involves a risk of

explosion. Be sure tcrfotlow installation instructionsdescribed below and handle the lamp with care.

    2. Do not operate the lamp outside of the lamp housing.

    3. Do not operate for more than 2 hours with theenclosure removed.

1 w Lamp ReplacementNote:Since the lamp reaches a very high temperatureduring units operation replacement of the lamp shouldbe done at least one hour after the power has beenturned off. (to allow the lamp to cool off.)Installing the new lamp, make sure not to touch thelamp (bulb) replace the lamp by holding its reflector0.[Use original replacement only.]

Reassembling procedureNote: Mount the air filter cover last. Do not attempt to place the air filter cover first and then the top cabinet.

Because otherwise the air filter covers lever and the top cabinets leaf switch lever would interfere with eachother, thereby damaging the leaf switch.

    1. Set the top cabinet over the bottom cabinet.2. Press the front cabinet against the top and bottom cabinets to fit them together.3. Press the rear cabinet against the top and bottom cabinets to fit them together.4. Tighten up the screws into the rear cabinet. Use the four 3-mm tapping screws and one M2.5 machine screw.

Be careful not to drive any tapping screw into the M2.5 screw hole. The screw threads may be deformed.5. Tighten up the tapping screws to fix the top and bottom cabinets.6. Tighten up the M3 machine screws behind the air filter cover.7. Finally mount the air filter cover.

n Cleaning the lenses and reflectors1. Lens cleaner

l Cleaning liquid:Change the mixture ratio of alcohol and ether depending onambient temperatures. Make sure that the liquid evaporatesfrom the lens surface immediately after you rub it: This is thebest ratio. The more ether is used, the quicker the liquidevaporates.

l Method:Use well-washed bleached cotton cloth or cleaning paperavailable on the market. Damp the bleached cotton cloth withthe liquid, and hold the lens sandwiched in the cloth with yourthumb and the index finger. Turn the lens and wipe the surfaceclean from the center outward to collect dust. Be careful not torub the coated surface too strong.

    25

  • XV-CIE 1

l SYNC IN (pin No. 21)Used to receive L-level (= OV) pulse for sync and H-level (= 3V) pulse otherwise. The sync signal receivedand the sync signal separated by the sync separation circuit are fed through an OR gate and then into thegate pulse generator circuit.

    ii) Circuit behavior

l ACC detector, ACC amplifierThey form an ACC loop and serve to detect the peak of the burst signal amplitude.

l VCO, APC detectorThe VCO local oscillation circuit is of Pierce crystal oscillator type and functions as a crystal unit. The APCdetector phase-detects the burst signal and the VCO oscillation output signal. The resulting detection voltageis used to control the VCOs oscillation frequency and to form a phased-locked loop. By doing so, no readjust-ment is needed.

9 Killer detectorThe detector is used to phase-detect the burst signal and the VCOs oscillation output signal.

l Picture adjustment circuitThe value Q of the luminance signal delay line is changed in order to adjust the frequency characteristic.

    * AGC circuitVarious AGC characteristics can be achieved depending on the luminance signals APL. The luminancesignal is fed to the filter at pin (17) to get rid of the high-frequency components. The resulting signal goes tothe AGC detector to detect the peak.

l Filter adjustmentThe resistance between pin (12) and GND can be regulated to adjust the filters frequency characteristic.

l External input switchThe INT and EXT signals can be switched over by the control signal coming to pin (l).The switch is of high-speed type.

    Input

l InversionThe primary-colour outputs at pins (32), (34) and (36) are inverted according to the FRP pulse being inputtedto pin (39). When the pin (40) is at the VCC potential, the input, output and inverted pulse are in the relation-ship shown below.

    Tl-

    r

l Primary-colour outputThe push-pull system is employed in order to drive a capacity load, A feedback is made to keep the outputsignals center voltage at (VCC+VEE)/2. This is to prevent DC components from getting superimposed and toavoid adverse effect on the LCD panels.
