What is Pinterest?Pinterest is a pinboard-style social photo sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based photo collections such as events, interests, hobbies, and more.

Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, 're-pin' photos to their own collections and/or 'like' photos.

How You Can HelpThis is a grassroots public relations project on behalf of our beautiful region. Your most powerful tool is your Internet connection. Share the photos, ‘re-pin’, ‘follow’, ‘like’, create good content!

Page 14: Sharing the Photos

1. Join Pinterest, create your own boards, and re-pin some Ma’ale Adumim , Dead Sea, and other Israel photos to them – the more ‘re-pins’ a photo has, the better its chances of getting noticed by important Websites, like Google…woo-hoo, that’s when things go viral!

2. ‘Follow’ any pinboards or ‘like’ any photos you find interesting – no need to join Pinterest to do this – the more ‘likes’/’follows’, the greater the chance that search engines will take notice.

3. Write about our region in your blogs, Facebook ,etc…and embed a photo.

4. Share your creative ideas about how to further develop this project, where to take more photos, additions/corrections. Contact [email protected]

5. We can all be PR people for our region…talk it up!

Five things you can do

Page 15: Sharing the Photos

Educators are using Pinterest for collaborative learning - it’s wonderful for creative thinking, writing, and artistic expression.

For instance, develop a community pride lesson around the Ma’ale Adumim photos – each student gets a pinboard to ‘re-pin’ things they are proud of in MA, add photos of their own, and write about the photos. Then, the boards can be shared and re-pinned, and on and on. Pinterest supports Hebrew and many other languages.

For Educators

Incorporate photos in your presentations. With a laptop computer and optional projector, you can present a slideshow of over 600 photos of Ma’ale Adumim – that might be a real conversation starter! Other slideshows can be created from the photo sets on Flickr.comShow donors and foundations what Ma’ale Adumim, the Dead Sea, and Israel really look like.
