Why?

• We are commanded to pass on a godly legacyDeuteronomy 6:5-7 5"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.6"These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7"You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Psalm 78• 3Which we have heard and known,

And (E)our fathers have told us. 4We will (F)not conceal them from their children, But (G)tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His (H)wondrous works that He has done. 5For He established a (I)testimony in Jacob And appointed a (J)law in Israel, Which He (K)commanded our fathers That they should (L)teach them to their children, 6(M)That the generation to come might know, even (N)the children yet to be born, That they may arise and (O)tell them to their children, 7That they should put their confidence in God And (P)not forget the works of God, But (Q)keep His commandments, 8And (R)not be like their fathers, A (S)stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that (T)did not [a]prepare its heart And whose spirit was not (U)faithful to God.

Why?• It is our most urgent priority - the most important

goal of parenting and homeschooling • It is the best way to ensure your child’s future success

(LIFE-SUCCESS)• It makes teaching and training so much easier! We are

in a spiritual battle. There is a war for the hearts of our kids.Ephesians 6:12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

When?

• When they are young. When their hearts are receptive to the gospel.

Mark 10:15“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all."Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, " Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Page 7: Sharing Jesus to Your Preschooler

When?• When there are teachable/magic moments– When circumstances or occasions give you an

opening to discuss spiritual matters (ex. When you attend a wake or funeral, when other children are misbehaving and your child does not understand, when you are enjoying God’s creation together, Christmas-time, Easter, etc.)

– When they start to ask questions about themselves and the world around them

Page 8: Sharing Jesus to Your Preschooler

How?• Exemplify the Gospel - Live it First! They have to

see Christ in your life first to want Christ in theirs.• Keep the Gospel Simple - John 3:16

1 Corinthians 15:3-4: "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures." Very simply, the gospel is that Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Tim. 1:15) through His death, burial, and resurrection.

Page 9: Sharing Jesus to Your Preschooler

How?• Present the gospel using terms and words they

can understand • Pray that they will be receptive to the Gospel • Reinforce the Gospel frequently in everyday life – “When you obey daddy, Jesus is happy!”– “Jesus wants you to obey”– “Where is Jesus? He is...(let them answer, in my

heart!)”– “What would Jesus want us to do in this situation?”– “What will make Jesus happier?”

SOME IDEAS ON HOW TO SHARE THE GOSPEL:Source: http://www.kidology.org/zones/zone_post.asp?post_id=120

• Use the wordless book method - “I want to share with you a special book. It has no pictures it in. Only colors, but each color has a special meaning...”– Gold: Heaven– Black or other dark color: Sin– Red: Jesus blood on the cross– White: A clean heart– Green: Growing in Jesus

Page 11: Sharing Jesus to Your Preschooler

How?

• Illustrate using the cross as the bridge between God and man. (One verse – Romans 6:23)

Page 12: Sharing Jesus to Your Preschooler

How?

• Use this website: http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/whowillbeking/– It presents the gospel in an easy to understand

manner for children

A few things...

• To say “You need to accept Jesus into your heart” might not be physically conceivable to a child. Focus instead on what this means – When you accept Jesus into your heart, it means that you trust in Jesus to save you and you make him Lord of your life – by choosing to love and obey him.
