Shape Up & Go Pebble Webinar Q&A Q1. As a heart patient, one of my primary activities is the cardio exercises done in stations like you expressed - how do I get activity time for that? It's imperative that I watch my heart rate so it's crucial that I have rest time in between my exercises but currently I'm not getting proper credit for 60+ mins of activity. A: For non-step based activities (outside of walking, running, indoor cycling and elliptical training) the Pebble must be in constant motion for 10 or more continuous minutes in order to record exercise time. If you are performing an activity which includes periods of rest, you may wish to make an effort to keep the Pebble in motion (walking slowly or tapping your foot) during these rest periods in order to get full credit for the duration of the activity. Q2. When I walk the whole Pebbles lights up often it is very noticeable at night. Why? A: The Pebble LED display is designed to light up when tapped five times. When clipped to the top of your shoe, you may find that the display is sometimes activated while walking or running. This can occur if the impact made with the ground is close enough to the tap sequence, but this would not have a significant impact on the Pebble's battery life. Q3. Are we able to create teams or challenges? A: No. The 2014 Shape Up & Go platform does not allow members to create teams or challenges. Q4. What if I lose my Pebble? Is it replaced for free? A: If you lose your Pebble, you can order a replacement directly from your Shape Up & Go! account. Click on the 'Buy Pebble/SyncPoint' button in the 'External Services & Devices' section and follow the onscreen prompts to order your device. Upon receipt, please make sure that the S/N on the back of your Pebble matches the S/N listed on the 'Settings' page at https://shapeupandgo.org. Q5. Can one remote syncpoint at home be used for multiple Pebbles? Also, do I need to do anything to activate the remote sending unit or do I simply put it into the USB port? A: Yes, all Pebbles are able to sync their data via any working SyncPoint. You will need to download the SyncUtility application in order to use your Personal SyncPoint. To get started, please visit the following page: http://info.shapeupandgo.org/setup/ Q6. Do serial numbers need to be specifically entered in personal syncpoints for them to be recognized or does a personal syncpoint pick up any Pebble that comes by? A: All SyncPoints are able to detect and sync any Pebble that comes within range. Q7. Do you have to activate your Pebble every week? A: You don't have to do anything - just clip it on and go! Your Pebble comes pre-registered to your ShapeUp account, so no activation is required. You should try to sync your Pebble data daily so that you can see your step results, but it can store up to 2-3 weeks’ worth of data. Q8. Does it track Yoga activity? A: Due to the limited motion and intermittent pauses involved in most Yoga exercise, it will not likely count towards your Pebble totals.

Q9. Can we get updates every month to tell us if we met our monthly requirement? Also tell us how many months we have met the goal and how many more we need to meet the insurance deductions. A: We do not send out monthly updates noting your goal status and how many months you have met your goals. However, you can log in to your account at Shape Up & Go!, click on the 'Tracking' tab, and manually calculate your data entries using the tracking calendar. You may also go to the Tracking>Progress page and select view by 'Year' to see your monthly data averages and totals. Q10. What is the Support Teams contact information? A: Shape Up & Go!'s Participant Support Team may be reached at [email protected]. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm Eastern. Q11. Can you have it to record your miles? A: No. The Pebble is only configured to count steps and activity minutes. Q12. Can you please explain how the monthly amounts (steps and minutes) are counted? A: The Pebble activity tracker utilizes a 3-axis accelerometer and patented technology to measure steps and activities. Steps and activity data is offloaded to a working SyncPoint and then transferred to Shape Up & Go!. Q13. Does the Pebble continue to track activity after the days' goals have been reached? A: Yes, the Pebble will continue to track activity for as long as it is in use, even after the daily goal has been met Q14. Does the Pebble record weight training, for example, working out with free weights or weight machines? A: No, the Pebble cannot accurately track weight training activities. It is designed to track cardiovascular activities such as walking, running, indoor biking and elliptical training. Q15. Do you have to enter personal goals on shape up and go website or can we just use the goals sent with the Pebble? 100,000 steps or 600 mins / month? A: You are not required to enter additional goals at Shape Up & Go!. Default personal goals of 5,000 steps and 30 minutes per day are set for each participant. If you would like to update your personal tracking goals, log into your account and click on the Tracking tab. You will see a box on the right labeled 'Personal Goals.' Click on 'Edit' to change your goals. Note that only your steps goal is linked to and displayed on your Pebble. Please also note that this is your personal goal, and changing your personal goal will not change the metric you need to meet in order to achieve your incentive. Q16. For outside use what is the temp range for the Pebble? A: The Pebble can operate normally between -4°F and 122°F. Q17. How does the Pebble track if you are riding a road bike? A: The Pebble is less consistent with tracking outdoor cycling accurately since there are so many variables involved, such as surface conditions, hills, coasting time, etc. In general, the time should be tracked fairly accurately as long as there aren't frequent stops in motion, but the steps will not be tracked as accurately since it is not a validated activity. Q18. How frequently do you have to sync the information? How much info does the Pebble store? A: The Pebble can store up to 2-3 weeks of activity.

Q19. I briskly walked for 40 minutes and it only gave me 260 steps! What could I have done wrong? A: This may be due to the location where the Pebble was worn during the activity. For best accuracy, clip the Pebble securely on the top of your shoe with the clip opening pointing towards your toes. Q20. I cross country ski, had it clipped to my boot and barely got any steps. A: We would not expect to see a significant number of steps recorded from cross country skiing, since this is not one of the validated activities that the Pebble tracks (walking, running, indoor cycling, elliptical training). However, you should receive credit for this activity as long as you were active for 10 or more continuous minutes. Q21. I have been wearing both my previous ShapeUp and Go pedometer and the Pebble on my hip next to each other. The pedometer has recorded 500 - 1000 steps more per day than the Pebble. Any suggestions to resolve the discrepancy? A: You may notice a lower step count with the Pebble as compared to other pedometers. This is because the Pebble uses intelligent algorithms to record true steps and is able to filter out other motions, such as foot tapping, shuffling, etc. Q22. I participate in a CrossFit type 60 minute class 6 days per week. It is an intense strength training program with heavy weights so is a supreme cardio workout. However, the Pebble does not track this. If the Pebble is going to be the determining factor in what I pay for my health insurance, I don't see it as any adequate indicator of the amount of exercise I participate in. Is there any place I can log these minutes so I can be fairly reviewed for my exercise? A: There is not currently a place to manually log exercise in your ShapeUp account. However, any walking or running activity that is recorded by your Pebble during CrossFit style workouts will be counted towards your exercise totals. Q23. How can I change default setting of 5,000 steps to 12,000? A: If you would like to update your personal tracking goals, log into your account and click on the Tracking tab. Q24. How can you tell how many steps you have taken per day? A: To see how may steps you have taken each day, log in to your account at Shape Up & Go! and click on the 'Tracking' tab, and click on the calendar date you would like to view. You may also go to the Tracking>Progress page and select view by 'Month.' Scroll over the dates on the graph to see total steps and minutes for each day. Q25. How do you create a challenge? I do not see any create challenge button anywhere. A: The 2014 Shape Up & Go! platform does not allow participants to create challenges. Q26. You can sync any Pebble with a personal sync point. Are there any restrictions? A: Your Pebble will offload data to any working SyncPoint it comes into contact with. Q27. When walking with my co-workers how did they get 2800 steps and I only got 992 steps?

A: This may be due to where each user wears their Pebble or possibly due to your Pebble not being secure. There could be a minimal variance based on each user's stride length as well (shorter stride = more steps). Generally, if multiple users wear the device on the same location and perform the same activity, they should receive similar step counts. Q28. I walk outside to get to work. Can I wear the Pebble on top of my shoe? Today I was worried because it was snowing so I wore it on my hip. A: The Pebble is waterproof, so feel free to wear it in the snow or rain. Q29. I wear my wife’s and my own personal Pebble and get very different totals. How come? A: The step totals could vary depending on the location that the Pebble is worn and it is recommended that they are worn securely on the top of the shoe for the best accuracy. If you are seeing ongoing issues with one of the Pebble, please contact [email protected] Q30. How long before support gets back to you? Cannot sync both Pebbles. My Pebble syncs with personal sync point but my husbands does not. I am CCF he is not. A: Shape Up's Participant Support Team sends an initial response to all inquiries within 1 business day. Please send all requests for assistance to [email protected]. Q31. How much do replacements cost? A: Replacements are available on the 'Settings' page at Shape Up &Go!. The prices are: Pebble only $35, Personal SyncPoint only $15, and Pebble & SyncPoint Bundle $44. Q32. What monthly window of time does Shape Up & Go! track? i.e. 1st. to last day of month, 15th to the 15th, etc? A: Data is tracked from the 1st of the month to the last day of the month. Q33. I already lost my original Pebble and had to order another one. The new one will be connected with all my old information, correct? A: Replacement Pebbles are not connected to Shape Up & Go! prior to shipment. Upon receipt, please make sure that the S/N on the back of your Pebble matches the S/N listed on the 'Settings' page at https://shapeupandgo.org. If the S/Ns do not match, you will need to remove the prior Pebble link and then link the new Pebble to your account. Participant Support is available to assist in this process if needed. Q34. If I am doing Kettlebell swings - obviously I do not move my feet. Would it register if I put it on my arm? A: The Pebble is not validated to measure Kettlebell activity when worn on the arm. However, if worn there and the activity lasts 10 or more continuous minutes then it may count towards your total minutes. Q35. So this Pebble is virtually worthless for tracking my CrossFit exercise time is what you are telling me? There is no way to wear it or program it to track my activity, correct? A: The Pebble is validated to track walking and running activity so it would measure any steps that occur during CrossFit training. Q36. I can log on at home to Shape Up & Go to view progress with the Pebble but not at work. A: You can log in to your Shape Up & Go! account from home or work. Just sign in at https://www.shapeupandgo.org with the user name and password you created during registration.

Q37. If there is activity for a certain period of time, how long before the Pebble goes inactive? A: The Pebble will be able to continue tracking exercise activity for as long as the user is active. Q38. If you don’t tap the Pebble just prior to working out, does that mean the minutes were not recorded? A: You do not need to tap the Pebble prior to working out, as the Pebble is always recording data while in use. Q39. If you have 2 Pebbles registered to you what will happen if you wear them both at the same time? A: The ShapeUp program will only allow you to have a single Pebble registered to your account at a time. So wearing multiple Pebbles will not affect your total data Q40. I just purchase sync point for my husband. I ordered his Pebble which is paid by EHP. I just read that if you are a member of the Employee Health Plan then your product has been paid for courtesy of the Health Plan. Does it mean that sync point is paid as well? A: SyncPoints are provided courtesy of the Employee Health plan for EHP employees who do not work at a SyncPoint location and for EHP spouses. If you feel that your spouse should have received a complimentary SyncPoint, please contact Participant Support at [email protected]. Q41. I lost my Pebble and ordered a new one. When I receive my new Pebble, how do I activate it to my account? A: Upon receipt of your new Pebble, please make sure that the S/N on the back of your device matches the S/N listed on the 'Settings' page at https://shapeupandgo.org. If your old Pebble is still linked click on 'Remove link' to remove it, select the option to link your new device, and follow the on screen prompts. Q42. I'm the official dog walker in my family and have a standing 3 mile circuit. I've had several times where I know that I've walked three miles which takes approximately 45 minutes yet the Pebble doesn't log my distance or time correctly. There is a problem with accuracy of the data that you are capturing. I will meet the goals outlined by the employee health plan but am amazed by its inaccuracy. A: For best accuracy during long walks, it is recommended that you wear the Pebble securely on your shoe with the opening of the clip pointing towards your toes. Also, the Pebble will only track active motion so any stops or rests during a walk will not count towards your time. Q43. I purchased a personal sync point, which is showing green, yet it is does not appear to be recording my activity. In fact, my antennae shows last sync on 2/4 at 10:46 am but does not show any activity recorded since 2/1. A: Please check that your Pebble's battery is charged. You will see green dots on the Pebble as the battery reaches a critically low level. Support can check your battery level and check for any other possible causes. Q44. In my experience, the delay between synch and display can be nearly 24 hours, not just a few minutes.

A: The Pebble is able to quickly transfer days' worth of data to a working SyncPoint in just a matter of seconds. This data should then be available to be viewed on your ShapeUp account page in about 20 minutes. Q45. I misplaced my Pebble, how do I order another? A: If you lose your Pebble, you can order a replacement directly from your Shape Up & Go! account. Click on the 'Buy Pebble/SyncPoint' button in the 'External Services & Devices' section and follow the onscreen prompts to order your device. Upon receipt, please make sure that the S/N on the back of your Pebble matches the S/N listed on the 'Settings' page at https://shapeupandgo.org. Q46. Is it true that it only counts steps if you go more than 5 steps in one direction? A: The Pebble counts each individual walking or running step that a user takes, but will not likely give credit for backward or side steps. Q47. If you forgot to wear your Pebble one day, and you DID exercise, can you make a retro entry of some kind? A: No. Pebble data is locked once you start logging Pebble data. Q48. Is the Pebble water proof? A: Yes, the Pebble is waterproof up to 100 ft. Q49. I want to only see my progress for the currently week... not a running total week as it is currently. How do I do this? A: Please go to Tracking on your SUG home page and you can see your totals for each day of that week. Q50. I wear my Pebble all the time - the clip on my Pebble has come loose and now falls off my shoe - Do I have to pay to replace it? A: No, you will not have to pay to replace your clip. You can get a replacement clip by contacting SUG support. Q51. Just curious, why is only indoor biking included? A: The Pebble is less consistent with tracking outdoor cycling accurately, since there are so many variables involved, such as surface conditions, hills, coasting time, etc. In general, the time should be tracked fairly accurately as long as there aren't frequent stops in motion, but the steps will not be tracked as accurately since it is not a validated activity. Q52. If I added biking to my list of activities, how would it count online? A: Any additional tracking categories would have to be tracked manually by going to Tracking on your SUG Home Page. Q53. How do I update my weight loss? A: You can track your weight from the Tracking page. If you wish to change your original weight entry when you created your account, please contact SUG Support with your corrected weight entry. Q54. How / what are considered exercise minutes?

A: The exercise minutes metric consists of the total time tracked while performing validated activities (walking, running, indoor cycling, elliptical training) as well as the time tracked while performing non-step-based activities (such as swimming or aerobics) that last for 10 or more continuous minutes. Non-step-based activities are not validated by the Pebble and therefore must be tracked for 10 or more continuous minutes in order to count towards your total. Q55. My Pebble does not record every step I take - I work out of 4 patient rooms that are only approx. 10 feet apart but the steps in between these rooms are not recording. I will never get my goal if this will not record my steps while at work. A: The Pebble counts each individual walking or running step that a user takes. For best accuracy it is recommended that the Pebble be worn securely on the top of the shoe with the clip opening pointing towards your toes. Q56. I ski for hours at a time, but only register average of 70 minutes. Also I received 68 minutes driving on a long trip. A: The Pebble is not validated to track skiing activity and due to the length of most ski runs, it will not meet the 10 or more continuous necessary to track as a non-step based activity. Q57. Why does long distance driving count more than my daily walking? A: The Pebble is designed to eliminate the majority of non-step based activity so you should not see a significant number of steps or minutes from driving. If you are, please contact ShapeUp support at [email protected]. Q58. How do you replace the battery in the Pebble? My battery has gone down from approx. 70% to 50% over the month of January. At what percentage should the battery be changed? A: To change your Pebble's battery, follow these directions:

1. Twist the cover slightly counterclockwise to unlock. 2. Gently remove the back cover. 3. After opening the Pebble, you’ll see a pry point in the top corner. Use either the tab on the end of

the clip or a small screwdriver to remove the old battery. 4. Wait 60 seconds and then insert the new battery under the metal tab with the + side facing you.

Be careful not to bend the metal tab that holds the battery in place. 5. Turn the Pebble over and you will see a sequence of green lights that turn on and off in a

clockwise direction, ending with 1 green light. This indicates the Pebble is working properly. 6. Replace the clip and the back cover and turn clockwise to lock the case. Make sure the end of

the clip fits securely in the Pebble’s groove. There is also a video tutorial available at the following page: http://www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan/PebbleFAQs.htm Q59. The Pebble overall has the option of showing the exercise minutes per hour, etc., on FitLinxx or on Spark People ... will this more detailed tracking be available for our CCF Pebble? A: Only steps per day will be displayed on the device, reflected by the number of light illuminated. Q60. If I constantly bounce my foot up and down at my desk will it record steps? A: Due to the Pebble's intelligent algorithms, you should not see a significant number of steps from tapping or bouncing your foot.

Q61. Red and green lights are great, but what do you suggest if you are red-green color blind regarding battery strength? A: If you are experiencing issues with your Pebble and are unable to distinguish between the green or red LED lights, please contact ShapeUp support at [email protected] who can review your battery level. The battery only needs to be changed once every 6-12 months depending on activity level. Q62. Is it possible to link a personal Pebble device such as one of the wrist band Pebbles? A: Currently only the Pebble is supported for this program. Q64. Does the app allow me to enter food that I consume or other exercise activities? I have used My Fitness Pal in the past which then showed my progress in some overall goals. A: You can set up your tracking categories on the SUG website for your own use under Tracking> Manage Tracking. These entries, however, will not count toward the incentive program. Q65. What are your suggestions for Zumba classes? Pebble is not tracking as exercise even though it is 60 minutes. There is a short pause in between songs. A: For aerobics classes such as Zumba, it's best to wear the Pebble in a location that is moving for the duration of the activity, such as the hip. You may have to make an effort to keep the Pebble in motion during short pauses (by walking in place, side-stepping, etc.). Q66. So when you say white noise do you mean to say any sport or activity other than walking, running, biking or elliptical won't count? I play racquetball, tennis, and other non-linear sports. Does the algorithm exclude this activity? A: These types of non-step-based activities may not generate accurate steps counts, however, they should count towards your exercise minutes as long as the Pebble is in motion for 10 or more continuous minutes. Q67. Is there an App available for a Windows phone? A: Currently we only Support an app for the iPhone. There is, however, a mobile browser version you can access from any smartphone. Q68. The green lights on my Pebble are usually blinking after I tap 5x. What does that mean? A: When the lights on the Pebble pulse this indicates that it has data stored which is ready to be synced Walk by a SyncPoint to offload the data and the lights should go back to a steady state. Q69. Validated activities - swimming for 120 minutes (moderate exertion) recorded 19 minutes activity and 700 steps. This seems not representative of calories burned due to resistance of water, how come? A: In order for a non-step based activity to count towards your minutes, it is important to wear the Pebble towards the location that is in constant motion and make sure the activity last at least 10 continuous minutes. Any pauses in the activity can keep the Pebble from counting some time. Also, the Pebble is not validated to take water resistance into account when tracking. Q70. What about other activities like rowing, yoga and strength training? A: These types of non-step-based activities may not generate accurate steps counts, however, they should count towards your exercise minutes as long as the Pebble is in motion for 10 or more continuous minutes.

Q71. My Pebble does not seem to track any activity. I have worn my Pebble for 5 days and there is no tracking record on the tracking page despite the green dot on the settings which indicates Receiving Data. A: Please make sure you have walked by a syncpoint a few times to assure an offload. Also check on the SUG site under Settings in the upper right of the page to make sure your Pebble Serial Number appears there and the Pebble shows as synced. Q72. My Pebble is malfunctioning & a replacement is being sent. How will the missing data be tracked / uploaded to the database? A: Only data captured by the Pebble can be transferred. There may be gaps in data with a faulty Pebble. Q73. My Pebble is not syncing. I have worn it 4 weeks and no activity shows on Shape Up & Go! How come? A: Please make sure you have walked by a syncpoint a few times to assure an offload. Also check on the SUG site under Settings in the upper right of the page to make sure your Pebble Serial Number appears there and the Pebble shows as synced. Q74. What about outdoor biking or rollerblading? Are these activities validated? A: These types of non-step-based activities may not generate accurate steps counts, however, they should count towards your exercise minutes as long as the Pebble is in motion for 10 or more continuous minutes. Q75. What is the minimum for each activity, steps and exercise? A: All validated activity (walk, run, indoor biking, and elliptical) will begin recording right away as long as the Pebble is being worn correctly. For activities outside of these four types, the activity would need to be continuous and last at least 10 minutes in duration before it is counted. Q76. How do I access Shape Up & Go? A: Please go to www.shapeupandgo.org and enter your username and password to log in. Then you can go to Tracking to see your activity data by day or week. Please email Support if you have any difficulty retrieving your username and password. Q77. What type of battery is used? A: The Pebble uses a CR2032 coin cell battery which can also be purchased at most drugstores. Q78. Where do you get extra batteries? A: Each Pebble comes pre-packaged with a spare battery. The Pebble uses a CR2032 coin cell battery which can also be purchased at most drugstores. Q79. Why is there a major difference in steps between the FitBit and Pebble? I have noticed a difference in about 1,000 steps. I am wearing the Pebble on my shoe. A: You may notice a lower step count with the Pebble as compared to other pedometers. This is because the Pebble uses intelligent algorithms to record true steps and is able to filter out other motions, such as foot tapping, shuffling, etc. Q80. I have a concept 2 rowing machine. Will that show up on the Pebble?

A: Non-step-based activities may not generate accurate steps counts, but should count towards your exercise minutes as long as the Pebble is in motion for 10 or more continuous minutes. For rowing this would likely benefit from being worn on the wrist as the feet as generally locked in place. Q81. Will your Pebble sync directly via Bluetooth with your iPhone or do you need to be near a syncpoint? A: No, the Pebble does not sync via Bluetooth and will need to come within range of a SyncPoint to offload its data. Q82. I have a green light but it appears that nothing has been tracked. A: First, check the Settings page on your ShapeUp & Go account to make sure your device is properly linked to your account. If this is not the problem, check the Tracking page and hover over the blue signal icon to see when your Pebble last synced with your account. If your Pebble has not synced recently, walk within range of a SyncPoint and check the Tracking page in 10-15 minutes. If you are still having issues, please contact [email protected] and provide your full name, CCF email and Serial Number that appears on your Pebble. Q83. How are goals for the indicator lights set? I can have all the lights glowing but still not meet the step goal. Please explain. A: The default Pebble goal is set to 5,000 steps per day. If the full circle of lights are displayed on the Pebble, then you have met, or exceeded, this goal. You may also change your Pebble goal in the Your Goals section of the Tracking page on your ShapeUp & Go account. Q84. The step count seems inaccurate when compared with other Shapeup pedometers from the past. Any suggestions? A: You may notice a lower step count with the Pebble as compared to other pedometers. This is because the Pebble uses intelligent algorithms to record true steps and is able to filter out other motions, such as foot tapping, shuffling, etc. Q85. Why don't participants get the access point automatically? A: Many employees' work locations will have Sync Points on site. Employees that work at location without an onsite Sync Point will have the option to order a personal syncpoint during registration. Q86. Because the Pebble needs 10 minutes of continuous activity to record the time, doesn't that disincentivize us to do activities like weight training that are equally important to cardio? A: All exercise is important and the Pebble program is definitely not intended to disincentivize any beneficial activity. However, due to the wide variety in weight training and the inconsistent motions involved, these types of activity would not be able to be validated unless detected by the Pebble as continuous exercises lasting 10 or more minutes. Q87. What if you lose your Pebble? A: Replacements for lost Pebbles can be purchased on the SUG platform under Settings with a credit card. Q88. What is the iTunes app name? I can’t locate it online. A: The App can be found by searching the App Store, the name is ShapeUp

Q89. Earlier on the call you said you need to tap and activate when walking by a sync point. Please explain further. A: The Pebble will automatically sync its data when it comes within range of a working SyncPoint. To help speed up this process, you can continue walking around or tap the Pebble to activate the lights when in range of a working SyncPoint, but this is not required. Q90. My battery is at 0% and it is only 2/5 This is concerning. A: Typically, the battery in the Pebble should last 6-12 months, however on rare occasions a Pebble may have a faulty battery. We recommend changing the battery when the lights on the Pebble turn red and we include an extra battery with every Pebble for this purpose. Q91. How long does battery last? How will I know if battery is low? A: Typically, the battery in the Pebble should last 6-12 months. It is recommended to change the battery as soon as the lights on the Pebble turn red. Q92. Where again do I hover to see when I last synced my data? A: You can go to Tracking on the SUG home page and hover over the image of the small antennae, Q93. How come I was synced on a Saturday night at 5:00 PM and I was not even at work? A: Pebble data may be time-stamped on the SUG website at different cycles. If your data appears for the correct date, there should be no problem. Please reach out to Support if you think data is not syncing correctly. Q94. Do I have to push the save button after I view my results? A: You do not need to save data once viewed. Q95. How are you supposed to wear the Pebble on your arm or your leg while swimming? A: The Pebble can be clipped on an arm band, wristband, or waterproof watch. Q96. How do you know the percentage of the battery? A: When the lights on the Pebble change from green to red, this indicates that the battery is low (15-20%) and should be changed. Q97. I lost my Pebble. Now what? A: Participants who lose their Pebble can purchase a replacement by going to www.shapeupandgo.org> Home> Settings. Q98. I run on the elliptical 3 days/wk & do interval training 2 days/wk. How can I get credit for this? A: The Pebble is able to record any walking or running activity that is completed during your interval training and this will go towards your totals. Also, depending on motion of the activity, if the interval lasts at least 10 continuous minutes it would be counted towards your exercise time in its entirety. Q99. Will you please repeat the name of the mobile application for iPhone? A: ShapeUp

Q100. Many of us are confused about how the Pebble is recording things. Some people get tons of steps and little exercise, and some vice versa, when both individuals are working out about the same and are walking the same. Why would the results vary so much? How does it know what 'working out' is? A: The Pebble will count walking, running, indoor biking, and elliptical activity towards the user's total steps and the user's exercise minutes. If one user also engages in many non-step based activities that last 10 or more continuous minutes, these minutes will give them additional exercise time that may not necessary count towards their total steps. Q101. If your spouse gets a Pebble and doesn't work at CCF, where do they get to a sync point? A: Spouses that do not work at CCF should receive a Personal SyncPoint in their welcome kit for syncing their device. If your spouse did not receive a SyncPoint, please contact ShapeUp support. Q102. Why would 'indoor biking' matter vs outdoor? A: The Pebble is less consistent with tracking outdoor cycling accurately, since there are so many variables involved, such as surface conditions, hills, coasting time, etc. In general, the time should be tracked fairly accurately as long as there aren't frequent stops in motion, but the steps will not be tracked as accurately since it is not a validated activity. Q103. Does CCF require 100,000 steps or 600 minutes of exercise or both? A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan. Q104. How can we get Pebbles in Florida quicker? A: Once you order your Pebble it should be delivered in 5-7 days. If you would like to check the status of your shipment please contact our support team at [email protected] Q105. Can we get replacement Pebbles on site in Florida? A: If an individual needs a replacement Pebble please contact us at [email protected] Q106. What if you forgot to wear your Pebble for a day? is there any way to manually enter an estimated amount of steps? A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan Q107. If you are short on steps, but over on exercise are you still meeting your goal? A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan Q108. My wife and I are both signed up but haven’t received our Pebbles yet. Will we receive a home usb sync point automatically or do we have to purchase that separately? Can we both use the same sync point?

A: All spouses will be provided with a Personal Sync Point for offloading data at home. Caregivers will only receive a Personal Sync Point if they are not at a location with an Enterprise Sync Point. If your spouse if using a Personal Sync Point, you can also offload your data at home. Q109. Once we wear the Pebble for 6 months and have met our goal do we have to continue to wear the Pebble? A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan. However, we encourage you to keep tracking your activity on the Shape Up & Go platform. Q110. Please confirm how many lights we must have per day. A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan Q111. Walking any distance is a non-starter for me as it will aggravate my hip. I do not know how to swim. However, I do work out with weights and machines 5 morning a week, am vegan, have been told by my physician that I am in excellent health - why should I be penalized and be forced to pay higher insurance premiums? A: Anyone who has a physical disability that would exclude them from physical activity should contact EHP to apply for a medical exception. EHP Customer Service Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at 216.448.0800 or 866.811.4352 Q112. What do you do if you lose your Pebble? A: In 2014, if you participate in Shape Up & Go! to qualify for Healthy Choice, you will need to track at least 100,000 steps or 600 physical activity minutes each month for 6 of the first 9 months of the year using the Pebble®. For information on Healthy Choice participation please see www.clevelandclinic.org/healthplan

Q116. I know a lot of caregivers who have lost their Pebble; has there been any thought to creating a Pebble lost & found website that would list the serial numbers that have been lost, which campus, and contact info for who has it? A: Please contact EHP Customer Service Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., at 216.448.0800 or 866.811.4352 Q117. Do my husband and I need separate log in credentials for Shape Up & Go? A: Yes, covered spouses that are eligible to participate should create their own account on Shape Up & Go. Q118. Does the Pebble record the actual time that we are doing an activity such as at 5PM I was most active? A: On the Shape Up & Go platform you will be able to view your total accumulated exercise minutes and pedometer steps for a given day. This is not broken down further into hours. Q119. How can we enter our nonstep activities? A: The Pebble automatically picks up your exercise minutes for you. If you are interested in tracking alternate metrics on the Shape Up & Go site you may do so, but please note that only "Pedometer Steps" and "Exercise Minutes" populated from your Pebble data count towards Healthy Choice. Q120. I go to the lobby for sync point. It won’t sync right away. Why do I have to wait few minutes to sync? A: It typically takes a matter of seconds for the Pebble to sync its data when the user walks by a working SyncPoint. You do not need to stand at the Sync Point and wait. However, once you have passed the SyncPoint please allow up to 10 minutes for the data to display on your ShapeUp & Go! account. Q121. The number on Pebble does not match number on settings page . How do I correct this? A: Please contact support to ensure that all of your data remains intact when updating the Pebble serial number on the settings page. Q122. What do you do if you find a Pebble? Is there a way to determine who it belongs to? A: Please contact support if you locate a stray device. You will be asked to provide the Serial Number found on the device. Q123. How do Spouse's sync ? Will this come with their Pebble when they register? A: Yes, spouses that register on Shape Up & Go will receive a Personal Sync Point with their device. Q124. Are there any plans to modify the Pebble so that it shows steps instead of having to log into Shape Up & Go? A: The Pebble has a built in LED light display which can be used to see progress towards a daily goal. The display is made up of 12 lights and can be activated by quickly tapping the top of the Pebble 5 consecutive times. ShapeUp has set a default daily goal of 5000 steps and each light would be 1/12th of this daily total. For example, when 6 lights are displayed this would indicate that it has recorded 2,500 steps so far that day. This goal can be edited in the settings of the ShapeUp site page.

Q125. Can I wear the Pebble on my sock? Will it be accurate here? A: In order to track data accurately, the Pebble should be worn securely on the top center of the shoe or on an approved torso location (hip or waistband). The Pebble can also be worn on a bra location for general "all day" activity such as office or home wear. Wearing it in another location can lead to less accurate step tracking. Q126. For non-step-based activity, you have to be moving 10 continuous minutes. What is the definition of continuous? Does that mean non-stop or can you pause for, say 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc? A: In order for the Pebble to track non-step based activity, the Pebble must detect the activity for at least 10 consecutive minutes without any pauses. Pauses in non-step based activity can lead to time being missed or not counted. Q127. How often do you have to walk past the sync point? A: The Pebble can store up to 21 days of activity data depending on how active the user is. However, it is recommended that the user tries to sync daily for the optimal experience. It typically takes a matter of seconds for the Pebble to sync its data when the user walks by a working SyncPoint. Q128. How should the Pebble be secured to the shoe? A: The Pebble should be secured tightly to the top center of the user's shoe with the clip opening pointing towards the toe of the shoe to ensure accurate step tracking. We recommend fastening the clip around multiple laces for sneakers or the topline/tongue of more formal footwear. If the Pebble cannot be secured this way on a shoe then we would recommend securing it to one of the hip locations. Q129. How soon will the synced data appear as tracked? A: Synced data will normally appear in less than 10 minutes on the ShapeUp site page. Q130. How well does the Pebble record tennis? A: The Pebble will record any walk or run steps detected during Tennis activity and display these on the ShapeUp site page. However, other motions such as lateral movements or shifts in foot position will not likely be counted as steps. Q131. How well does the Pebble pick up steps on your waistband or bra, compared to your foot? A: The Pebble is very accurate when worn on the foot location and should be worn there for more intense exercises such as long walks, runs, Elliptical, or indoor biking. However, if it cannot be worn securely on the foot then we would recommend positioning it on the waistband close to the hip. In this position it will still track steps well, but not quite as accurately as the foot. There is also an option for bra wear for general "all day" activity such as office or home wear, but this position is not recommended for longer exercise. Q132. I am having trouble downloading the program to my computer from the USB port. When I plug it in it flashes red, but the computer is not reading it. A: The SyncUtility program can be downloaded from the ShapeUp site page at http://info.shapeupandgo.org/setup/. The USB SyncPoint does not contain this program on the device itself. If you cannot download and install the program, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected].

Q133. I had an MRI and wore the Pebble by mistake. Does that damage the device? A: The Pebble tracker is susceptible to strong changing magnetic fields like those produced by MRI or similar machines. For this reason, it would be best for to leave it at the door of the MRI room. If you see continuing issues with your device after exposure, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q134. I have requested a sync point for myself and my spouse, neither one works on my home laptop. Is there something I can do to correct this? A: In order to use a SyncPoint at a home location, it is necessary to first install the SyncUtility program, which can be found at the ShapeUp site page at http://info.shapeupandgo.org/setup/. The USB SyncPoint does not contain this program on the device itself. If you cannot download and install the program or the SyncPoint is still not working, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q135. I often where pump style shoes with a 3" heel. My tracking does not appear to be accurate. Could that be due to the style shoe I am wearing? A: The Pebble should be secured tightly to the top center of the shoe with the clip opening pointing towards the toe of the shoe to ensure accurate step tracking. For heels this would likely be the topline/tongue location. If the Pebble cannot be worn securely on your footwear then we would recommend securing it to one of the upper torso locations (hip or bra). Q136. If a device is defective such as a personal sync point, where can we report that and what can be done to replace it? A: If you are experiencing an issue that may be due to a defective device, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q137. If you do the initial 10 minutes of exercise for the Pebble to count the time. And then you rest for a few minutes and exercise a little more. Does the Pebble count all of the intermittent activity after the 10 minutes (10 +3min +5min +2min) or does all the exercise have to be at least 10 minutes each between breaks? A: The Pebble will directly track steps and time for any walking, running, Elliptical, or indoor biking activity and display this data on the ShapeUp site page. For activities other than these, the time will be only be counted if the Pebble detects at least 10 continuous minutes of activity. Any pauses or breaks in that type of activity can cause the time to be missed or not counted. Q138. If you wear the Pebble just above the knee when cycling, it will pick up more movement? A: The Pebble should be worn securely on the foot in order to accurately track indoor cycling activity. Wearing it in a different location can lead to missed or inaccurate data. Q139. I'm working night shift 7pm-7am and I noticed that the steps I walk after 12am are not downloading in the AM when I pass by the sync point. For example I worked Sunday night, I'm off until Friday PM, but no steps synced for Monday AM 0000-0800 when I left home. A: The Pebble can store up to 21 days of activity data depending on how active the user is. So if the Pebble does not sync all of its data the first time it is seen by a working SyncPoint then it should sync the next time it is in range. If this data is not syncing at all, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected].

Q140. Is a running step counted the same as a walking step? A: All steps whether walking or running are counted towards the same total on the ShapeUp site page. However, running will result in more steps in a shorter time period. Q141. Are different types of steps recognized? i.e. more points for running or stairs then for walking? A: All steps whether walking or running are tracked and counted towards the same total on the ShapeUp site page. However, running will result in more steps in a shorter time period. Q142. Is it normal to have a high number of exercise minutes while # of steps seems low? A: Completing exercise activities that last at least 10 continuous minutes other than walking, running, Elliptical, or indoor biking will result in a higher number of exercise minutes compared to steps. However, if you are seeing this result during walking, running, Elliptical, or indoor biking then it is important to make sure that the Pebble is worn correctly. Q143. Is Pebble safe to pass thru Airport Security Check? A: The Pebble can safely go through airport security scanners, but we do recommend that travelers put them in the electronics bin with other electronic devices (cell phone, etc.). Q144. Is there something I need to do to activate my remote capture? A: When you wear the Pebble and walk past a wireless access point—also called a “sync point”, your steps or physical activity minutes will automatically upload to track your participation in Shape Up & Go!. There are not any additional actions needed to activate the Pebble other than making sure it is registered on your ShapeUp site page. Q145. How often must Pebble be synced? A: The Pebble can store up to 21 days of activity data depending on how active the user is. However, it is recommended that the user tries to sync daily for the optimal experience. It typically takes a matter of seconds for the Pebble to sync its data when the user walks by a working SyncPoint. Q146. My Pebble is showing signs of wear after only a few weeks of wearing it. There is a small spot on the top surface where a coating has worn off. How long is the Pebble supposed to last? A: The Pebble is very durable and should last for years of normal use. However, if you are seeing damage to the Pebble which is interfering with use, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q147. On weekends I wear my Pebble on my tennis shoe. At the end of the day I still only have 1 light. I have it on my laces. Please explain further. A: The Pebble should automatically track walk, run, Elliptical, and indoor biking towards your daily step goal when worn correctly. To ensure correct foot wear, secure the Pebble tightly to the top center of the shoe with the clip opening pointing towards the toe of the shoe. If you continue to see issues, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q148. The first week it was not recording data walked past sync point and that resolved. Then was wearing on bra for 1.5 weeks and steps were very low, switched to sock and steps tripled. However, on the sock middle top reads differently from slightly to the right or left for the same distance. I have also noticed the height of your heel seems to affect the number of steps ; Pebble reads lower with a moderate heal than flats. With so many variables, how are we going to ensure we are getting accurate results?

A: In order to track data accurately, the Pebble should be worn securely on the top center of the shoe or on an approved torso location (hip or waistband). The Pebble can also be worn on a bra location for general "all day" activity such as office or home wear, but is not recommended for exercise activity. Wearing it in another location can lead to less accurate step tracking. Q149. Regarding true motion technology, why does my Pebble measure my foot swings when I sit? This is overestimating (by a lot) my actual steps walked per day. I actually had 16,964 steps recorded in one day when I was in meetings all day. A: Please check the wear location of your Pebble and confirm that it is secured on the top of your foot. When worn securely on the top center of the foot or the hip, the Pebble should not be recording a significant number of steps from foot swings or foot tapping. If you are still having issues with your Pebble, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q150. How do I get the Pebble to start recording my steps? A: When you wear the Pebble and walk past a wireless access point—also called a “sync point”, your steps or physical activity minutes will automatically upload to track your participation in Shape Up & Go!. There are not any additional actions needed to activate the Pebble other than making sure it is registered on your ShapeUp site page. Q151. What is CCF doing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of this device? How does this device compare to other devices that use accelerometers including the Fitbit? I have both and there are always significant differences between the two with less activity recorded on the Pebble. A: The accuracy of the Pebble greatly relies on the device being worn securely on one of the approved wear locations. When worn correctly it is one of the most accurate devices on the market and will be able to credit the user for validated walking, running, Elliptical, and indoor biking activity while ignoring other shifting motions. Since it is only counting validated activity, it may give a lower step count than other devices that typically count any movement as step data (especially wrist worn devices). Q152. I do not work at the Clinic. My husband does. Do I have to send my Pebble in with him periodically to sync it? A: There is a personal SyncPoint that can be used on a home computer for remote users. For more information, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q153. When the Pebble is attached to the top of shoe as recommended as the best place to put it... during a run, how accurate is the Pebble expected to be in recording an accurate count for the number of steps? A: The Pebble is one of the most accurate devices on the market for counting running steps when worn securely and correctly on the shoe location. If you are seeing different results, we would recommend making sure it is tight to the shoe and not loose/bouncing as this can lead to steps being missed. If you are looking for additional information, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q154. Where is best place to wear Pebble for cardio kickboxing which involves a lot of hand and foot kicks? A: In order for the Pebble to track non-step based activity, the Pebble must detect the activity for at least 10 consecutive minutes without any pauses. So depending on how continuous and long the cardio

kickboxing exercise is, the Pebble may not track the time towards your exercise goal. That said, it is best to wear the Pebble securely in the location that would be most actively in motion. Q155. I have a syncpoint on my computer, should I be able to sync from my home? A: In order to use a SyncPoint at a home location, it is necessary to first install the SyncUtility program, which can be found at the ShapeUp site page at http://info.shapeupandgo.org/setup/. Once this is installed and the SyncPoint is plugged in, the Pebble should be able to sync data. Q156. Why not adjust 10 minute threshold to a 5 min threshold in order to capture those exercise events that fall outside of the 4 measured ones? A: The 10 minute activity threshold is based on CDC guidelines for standard aerobic exercise. Q157. Will it hold all info over a weekend? Our facility is an outpatient site closed on weekends. A: The Pebble can store up to 21 days of activity data depending on how active the user is. However, it is recommended that the user tries to sync daily for the optimal experience. It typically takes a matter of seconds for the Pebble to sync its data when the user walks by a working SyncPoint. Q158. Will the Pebble record Motorcross activities? A: The Pebble is not designed to record Motorcross activity so any data collection will be intermittent. Q159. Where is the best place to wear the Pebble? A: It is best to locate the Pebble closest to the side of the body or hip when wearing the device on the waistband as opposed to the center of the body. This will ensure the best step measurement when active. Q160. Since the Pebble may be worn under clothing, what do you recommend wiping it down with? A: The Pebble is waterproof and can be cleaned using a towel and water. We would not recommend using any solvent cleaners which may damage the device. Q161. You're saying anyone can use anyone's sync point but my sync point at home required me to enter the serial numbers to the sync point prior to use. Please explain. A: The SyncUtility program does not require a Pebble to be added using the serial number in order to sync the device. This just allows the Pebble information to be displayed in the SyncUtility window. Q162. I have my sync point connected to my laptop and it works fine unless I close my laptop and the program crashes, is there a patch to fix that or is to be expected? A: The SyncUtility program should not cause any computer crashes or freezing when a computer is shutdown or put into a sleep state. If you are seeing issues with your installation of this program, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected]. Q163. I've been past the sync point every day at work and tapped my Pebble. Why is it taking a week to for my data to show on tracking? A: It typically takes a matter of seconds for the Pebble to sync its data when the user walks by a working SyncPoint. This data will then usually display on the ShapeUp site page within 10 minutes. However, if you are seeing a longer delay than this and have already tried walking back in range of a SyncPoint, please contact the Shape Up & Go! Support team at [email protected].
