Radius of bending

Reinforcement to be formed to a radius exceeding that specified in the table below shall be supplied straight. The required curvaturemay be obtained during placing. For shapes with straight and curved lengths (e.g. shape codes 13 and 33) the largest practical radiusfor the production of a continuous curve is 200mm, and for larger radii the curve may be produced by a series of short straightsections.

Tolerances on cutting & bending dimensions

The tolerances for cutting and/or bending dimensions shall be inaccordance with the table to the right and shall be taken intoaccount when completing the schedule. The end anchorage or thedimension in parentheses in the shape codes specified in the tableopposite shall be used to allow for any permissible deviationsresulting from cutting and bending.

BRC Flying End® fabrics are stocked in manyBritish Standard references, offering considerablebenefits over traditional fabric sheets:

■ Accurate cover – extended overhangs caneliminate wire build-up at laps.

■ Faster laying cycle – simplified lap detailsimproves speed of laying and assists checking.

■ Reduced wastage – in certain cases, largersheet sizes can reduce on-site cutting andwaste.

■ Increased flexibility – reducing the lap build-upallows improved flexibility when positioningBRC circular spacers.

■ Reduced quantity – the larger sized sheets andthe use of deformed wire can reduce laplengths and overall quantity of fabric.

BRC made-to-measure fabric reinforcementBRC can manufacture standard A, B & C types in sizes to suit your application(subject to machine capability, transport and handling on site). With or withoutFlying Ends®, a more cost effective solution can be achieved by reducing cutting, wastage and lapping congestion.

BRC tailored fabric reinforcement

Designed to suit specific projects, BRC can provide mesh that offers an alternativeto conventional loose rebar. Supplied with or without Flying Ends®, reinforcement invarious diameters can be offered in sheet sizes to suit your contract (subject tomachine capability, transport and handling on site).

A cost-effective alternative to loose rebar inheavily reinforced areas.

Standard, Flying End® and made-to-measurefabrics can be supplied cut to size or bent.

Most British Standard shape codes can beaccommodated but it may be necessary tomanufacture them in sections for ease oftransportation or to enable the shape to becompleted.

The Ancon Eazistrip Reinforcement Continuity System is a quick and easy to install method of maintaining continuity ofreinforcement at construction joints in concrete. It consists of a galvanised steel casing with a dimpled surface toprovide an effective concrete bond. Pre-bent bars are housed within the casing and are enclosed by a protectivecover. Each end of the unit is sealed with a polystyrene block in order to prevent the ingress of concrete.

The unit is nailed to the formwork and the concrete is cast. After striking the formwork, the cover is

removed and the bars straightened, ready for lapping onto the main reinforcement.

Benefits■ Accelerates the construction process■ Simplifies formwork design ■ Removes the need to drill shuttering■ Casing protects bars until required■ Risk of site injuries from projecting bars

is minimised■ Easy to install by site operatives

Kwikastrip standard units are 1.2m long. To order, please state quantity, unit type, bar type, and bar spacing. For example: 50 no. M8.5S T10 C150. See right hand page for ordering specials.

When only the best will do….Over a period of 20 years, Kwikastrip has become established as the UK’s brand leading reinforcement continuity system. Aside of the well established advantages of using continuity strip, there are essentially 3 qualities which have earned Kwikastrip its unique market position:

Manufacturing versatility and emphasis on specials Approximately 85% of Kwikastrip is purpose-made. The aim is always to replicate the reinforcement detailer’s design in a more buildable format for the contractor. No other system can rival Kwikastrip’s total fl exibility in this regard.

Service and support from a dedicated technical team Halfen’s long experienced reinforcement team ‘eat and breathe’ Kwikastrip every day of the week, and are very able to advise regarding the scope for any given application. You might be surprised just how inventive some of the solutions can be for seemingly ‘impossible’ applications.

Product Approval

Kwikastrip was the very fi rst product ever to be awarded CARES Technical Approval status. The approval followed full-scale structural testing of the product in concrete, which concluded that the performance of joints formed using Kwikastrip were no less than that of traditional construction (i.e. with loose/unbent reinforcement). This full product approval provides critical reassurance that CARES has evaluated Kwikastrip as being ‘fi t for purpose’. Please ask for a copy of the CARES Technical Approval report.
