Career Experience
A team player with excellent communication skills & academic qualifications. My career began at Arcdesign RMA Architects in
2008. Having continually proven my hard work and dedication to the company and architecture. In September 2011, I was
appointed as the architectural consultant for the redevelopment of the Trade Centre building in Prospecton, Durban. A joint
venture between Investec Property Portfolio and Thrutainers International (Trading as Intermodal Cargo Solutions). In this project I
worked closely with client, consultants, contractors and municipality officials from design stage until completion in December
2012.
Having proven my capabilities to my company and the project, in January 2013, I was appointed as the architectural consultant
for the 1st development in Cornubia Industrial and Business Estate: The new warehouse and factory development for Blinds Mart.
The project involved meticulous design detail from the client and the Cornubia Design Review Panel. My duties were to perform
all architectural services from conceptual design stage to completion.
While handling this demanding project I continued my studies in Bachelor of Technology in Architectural Technology part time at
DUT. In April 2015 having just completed my studies, I decided it was time to leave Arcdesign RMA architects in order to broaden
my expertise. I was employed at Elphick Proome Architects where together with three other technical staff and an architect
completed the upgrade to Umalzi Mega City. After successfully integrating into EPA’s infrastructure I have been appointed the
designated technician for the 45 000 sqm development Redefine: Hirt & Carter, Uniprint & Trimuph printing facility in Cornubia.

Career HistoryElphick Proome
Arcdesign RMA cc.
1 April 2015 – Date
At EPA I was taught how to work on shopping mall developments and the importance of working together in a team to solve
problems and make decisions collectively to achieve the highest level of architectural standards. Having worked on the design
process of Redefine-Hirt & Carter printing Facility. I have learnt the importance of discussing and sharing ideas with colleagues even
when they aren’t working on the project themselves can still lend valuable input. My training in Revit has broadened my expertise.
1 September 2011 – 31 March 2015
In September 2011, the directors of the company acknowledged my growth by allocating me the larger projects in the office. These
large projects have thought me how to deal with clients, contractors and their sub contractors on site. On my last project we were
appointed as principal agent and architect. This has given me experience in working with JBCC contracts.
Arcdesign RMA cc.1 January 2008 – 31 August 2011
Arcdesign RMA appointed me as an Architectural Technologist. My duties include Site Investigation, As built drawings, Submission
drawings and Obtaining approval of drawings. Over the years I have gradually gained site experience liaising with other consultants,
the ability to produce working drawings, and finishing schedules. As well as special consent, relaxations, and visual aids. I have
gathered experience in the areas of Residential, Industrial buildings & commercial.
I am well experienced in obtaining approval at the following authorities: Durban Central, Inner West, Outer West, South Local,
Umhlanga, Tongaat, Verulam, Richards Bay, Howick Falls and Ballito Council.
Arcdesign RMA cc. 1 August 2006 –31 January 2006
Arcdesign RMA appointed me on a permanent basis. My duties include Site investigation, Measurement, Submission drawings and
Obtaining approval of drawings. I gathered experience in the areas of Residential, Industrial buildings & commercial.
Arcdesign RMA cc. 7 January 2006 – 31 July 2006.
I continued working at Arcdesign on a part-time basis while completing my National Diploma. This allowed me to develop my skills to
interpret designs in the form of submission drawings. The drawings were mostly residential drawings. As the junior in the office I also
did filing and other office duties.
Arcdesign RMA cc. 11 May 2005 – 11 November 2005.
My practical training started at this company. I learnt the basics of the operation of an Architectural office, from site investigation
right up to the submission of drawings to the local authorities.

Umlazi Mega City
My first project at Elphick Proome Architects (April 2015) together with three other technical staff and a senior
architect in the practice completed the upgrade to Umalzi Mega City. Due to budget constraints the
projects architectural finesse had to be downsized. Never the less the team managed to fight our way
through the project and manged to retain some of ideas of the project.
