Interview: How is Naftogaz ensuring the future of Unconventionals in the Ukraine?

Interview: What is needed to develop the UK’s resources?

Interview: How is PGNiG planning to make the move from exploration to production in Poland?

Interview: How will Polish regulation change to facilitate production?

Vadym ChuprunDeputy Board Chairman Naftogaz

Eric VaughanWell Services Director Cuadrilla

Jerzy KurellaInterim CEOPGNiG

Piotr WozniakChief National Geologist and Deputy Minister of Environment Poland

Vadym Chuprun is currently Deputy Board Chairman of the Ukrainian National Joint Stock company Naftogaz, and has overseen the company’s growth to accommodate over 175 thousand employees. The company represents currently one eighth of gross domestic product for Ukraine.

Naftogaz plans to oversee the progression of Ukraine in utilising and adopting shale resources, and Mr Chuprun believes that through this process, Ukraine could reduce its dependency on international imports and grow to develop itself as being a European beacon of energy security through unconventionals.

Eric Vaughan has over 30 years’ experience in the drilling and well service industry. He is a former US and European regional manager for NOWSCO Well Service, where he managed significant onshore oilfield service operations.

An informed and frequent speaker of the congress, Eric’s specialism extends, but is not exclusive to, the more technical aspects of unconventional well services. With legislation becoming supportive of the industry, and opportunity highly forecast, hear how Cuadrilla plan on developing growing optimism in their commercial reserves.

Mr Kurella was appointed to the position of the Deputy CEO of PGNiG SA on the 14 June 2013. He worked for PGNiG in such capacities as Managing Director for Legal Support and Managing Director for Negotiations and was previously Adviser to the President of the BGK Management Board.

With Poland having been the European talkspot for Shale for the past 4 years, PGNiG stand in the centre of perhaps the greatest opportunity for European production and development. Though he has only just assumed the role Jerzy will be in the shadow of previous PGNiG claims that Shale will be developed in Poland by 2015. Hear directly how the company plan to do so in his keynote interview.

Elected a deputy to the Council of Warsaw in 2002 as Vice-Chairman of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee, Wozniak previously sat on the Board of Directors at PGNiG as Deputy Chairman for Trade and Restructuring.

More recently an advisor to the Polish Prime Minister, Piotr currently characterises the Polish shale cause as the Chief National Geologist and Deputy Minister of Environment. Regulation is often highly questioned by unconventionally focused operators. How he plans on assisting to bring the legislative arm of Poland into production, will be a key focus during this interview session.

Dutch Focus Roundtable: The Future of Gas in Northwest Europe

Presentation: Understanding the Commercial Future of European CBM

Presentation: Commercialising Poland’s gas reserves

Presentation: The potential of unconventional resources in Lithuania

Berend ScheffersDirector of TechnologyEBN

Mark LappinFormerly General Manager Europe Dart Energy

Kamlesh ParmarChief Executive3Legs Resources

Thomas HaseltonGeneral ManagerMinijos Nafta

Analysing the Dutch subsurface in order to optimise the profits for the Dutch State, Berend’s department also cooperates with the asset managers and provides advice regarding new technologies to increase production.EBN stand in contentious ground in the production of unconventionals, but hold truth that there is a substantial amount of potentially producible shale gas in Northwest Europe, and its production is essential for a sustainable energy supply throughout Europe. Berend will develop these thoughts and the necessity for the Netherlands to adopt shale in his Dutch focus roundtable.

Mark has almost 30 years experience in upstream oil and gas, working previously with ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil. Originally a geologist, Mark worked in many basins around the world, from early exploration to mature production in a series of technical and management roles.

Mark’s current tasks at Dart are to bring pilot production on-line and progress development in Scottish licences; continue exploration program in UK and Poland and to build a Dart position in other European countries. With recent and direct experience in other unconventionals, Mark will provide us with an interesting insight into Dart’s international CBM potential.

Kamlesh Parmar was appointed as CEO on 18 October 2012. He has been with 3Legs since its activities commenced in 2007 and has previously held the position of Group Commercial Director and Poland Country Manager. He has overseen all aspects of the Group's operations in Poland since inception and, in particular, has managed the successful relationship with ConocoPhillips.

3Legs are said to be the first international oil and gas operator to have entered Poland back in 2008. Kamlesh will outline his approach in managing the production of shale internationally during his premium interview session.

Thomas Haselton entered the industry as a Petroleum Geologist, but has since acquired over 30 years experience. Thomas has seen hydrocarbon exploration and production licenses grow in Oman, Russia, Latvia, and Lithuania. It was his experience in Lithuania which allowed him to acquire the role as General Manager of UAB Minijos Nafta, Lithuania, from 1998 to present.

With enthusiasm to gain energy security, but relative uncertainty surrounding its shale gas potential, clarity will be key in moving Lithuanian reserves into production. Be sure to hear Thomas outline his strategy while gaining a unique insight into the region.
