History

• in 1853, the louisiana general assembly established the seminary of learning of the state of lsu near pinville, louisiana.

• The school opened on june 2, 1860 and had to be closed down numerous times because of the civil war.

• The school opened again on october 2, 1865, only to be burned down on october 15, 1869.

Interesting information

LSU’s “tiger” nickname was drawn from the Civil War fame of two Louisiana brigades who fought so fiercely that they became known as the “Louisiana Tigers”

The LSU lakes were developed from swamps in the 1930s as a works project.

My reason for attending LSU

• They have a good nursing program at lsu, and lousisana is my home town. So in that case, I wouldn’t have to pay out of state fees.
