    CameronHouse inChinatownwill host their 68 th annualcarnival at 920 SacramentoStreet thisSaturday. Ihave agreed to sit ontheir “dunk tank” at 2:00 p.m. Iwill be hitting the water for about 20 minutes, asoneby one fromthe community will be giving it their bestshot. Supervisor Peskinwill be right before me at 1:40p.m. so hopefully the community will be tired of throwing the ball by the time they get to me.

    PoliceAcademy Class252

    Yesterday I had the opportunity to host the 252 nd Police Academy Class. Aspartof their 8 monthtraining, they spend a day in the community learning the culture andinteracting withstakeholders. We focusoncommunity engagement, explaining howessential the partnership isbetweenthe policeand the community.

    They had a great experience aswe had themgive out “blessing scamawarenessbags” inChinatown, followed by passing out Public Safety Awarenessinformationabout a recent sexual assault inthe Ping Yuen. Inthe afternoon, half of the classwent toHydeand Lombard Streetsfor anhour and passed out “ParkSmart”informationto the tourists, warning themabout autoburglaries, and the other half went toFisherman’sWharf and wasprovided anoverviewof the Wharf by TroyCampbell. We completed the day by a debrief at Central Station. I wasimpressedwiththisclassand I lookforward to receiving a fewofficerswhenthey graduate inNovember. I must not forget the incredible lunchat Mona Lisa’s. They received thefull NorthBeachexperience!

    Each month Central Police Stat ion f eatures one

    of its off icers in an eff ort to learn more about the

    men and women who police our neighborhood.

    This month, we interviewed Of ficer Catherine Daly,

    a 24-year member of Central Police Station.

    Officer Catherine Daly wasbornand raised inSanFrancisco. She attended andgraduated fromSaint PaulsHighSchool. After highschool, she started working.

    Before becoming a Police Officer, she wasa Parking Control Officer. She joined the SanFrancisco Police Academy inFebruary 1991. After graduating fromthe Police Academy,she wasassigned to MissionStationfor her field training. She wasthenassigned toNorthernStationfor her probationstation. She wasthenassigned toCentral Stationasherpermanent stationin1992 and hasworked at Central Stationsince.

    Officer Daly is the HomelessResource Officer for over 12 yearsat Central Station. Shewaspart of the Homeward Bound programwhereshe helped over 2,000 homelesspeopleinSanFrancisco returnto their familiesand friendsand out of homelessness.

    Officer Daly enjoysworking withthe community, merchants, tourists, SanFrancisco RecandPark,SanFrancisco Fire Department, Paramedicsand HumanServicesAgency.

    Officer Daly hasworked at Central Stationfor 24 yearsand will be retiring onJune 15,2016 fromCentral Station!
