Using 2.50mm (US B1/C2) crochet hook and yarn I make 6 ch and join with a ss to form a ring.
Round 1 (RS): 1 ch (does NOT count as st), (1 dc into ring,
5 ch) 8 times, ss to dc at beg of round. 8 ch sps. Break yarn
and fasten off. Attach yarn A to any ch sp of last round.
Round 2: 1 ch (does NOT count as st), 1 dc into ch sp at
base of 1 ch, 3 ch, *1 dc into next ch sp, 3 ch, rep from *
to end, ss to dc at beg of round. Break yarn and fasten off.
Attach yarn K to any ch sp of last round. In this tutorial, we’re
sewing the asymmetrical folding clutch.
Round 3: 3 ch (counts as 1 tr), 2 tr into ch sp at base of
3 ch, 3 ch, miss 1 dc, *3 tr into next ch sp, 3 ch, miss 1 dc, rep
from * to end, ss to top of 3 ch at beg of round. 60 sts. Break
yarn and fasten off. Attach yarn M to any ch sp of last round.
Round 4: 1 ch (does NOT count as st), 3 dc into ch sp where
yarn was joined, *ss into next tr, 15 ch, now working into
15 ch just made, 1 tr into 3rd ch from hook and 1 tr into each
of next 12 ch, then miss 1 tr, ss into next tr**, 3 dc into next
ch sp, rep from * to end, ending last rep at **, ss to dc at beg
of round.
Break yarn and fasten off.
There are 8 “strings” in yarn M, each has 13 tr and a ch
sp at the end.
Turn work and with WS facing, attach yarn G to last dc in any
group of 3 dc of last round.
Round 5 (WS): *3 ch, miss “string” in yarn M, ensuring 3
ch sits on WS of “string” ss into next dc, 15 ch, now working
into 15 ch just made, 1 tr into 3rd ch from hook and 1 tr into
each of next 12 ch, then miss 1 dc, ss into next dc, rep from
* to end, ss to first of 3 ch at beg of round. Break yarn and
fasten off. There are now 8 “strings” in yarn G in addition to
those in yarn M.
Turn work, with RS facing and using photograph as a guide,
weave the “strings” before crocheting into them as folls:
Working anticlockwise, the “string” in yarn G goes under the
adjacent “string” in yarn M, then over the next “string” in yarn
M. Attach yarn A to ch sp at end of any “string” in yarn M.
Round 6 (RS): 3 ch (counts as 1 tr), 2 tr into ch sp at base
of 3 ch, *5 ch, 3 tr into ch sp at end of next “string” in yarn G,
5 ch**, 3 tr into ch sp at end of next “string” in yarn M, 5 ch,
rep from * to end, ending last rep at **, ss to top of 3 ch at
beg of round.
Break yarn and fasten off.
Attach yarn F to any 5-ch sp between 2 crossed “strings”
where “string” in yarn G sits on top of “string” in yarn M.
Round 7: 3 ch (counts as 1 tr), (1 tr, 2 dtr, picot5, 2 dtr, 2 tr)
into sp where yarn was joined, *5 ch, miss 3 tr, 6 tr into next
ch sp, 5 ch, miss 3 tr**, (2 tr, 2 dtr, picot5, 2 dtr, 2 tr) into next
ch sp, rep from * to end, ending last rep at **, ss to top of 3
ch at beg of round.

6 tr, 6 dtr into next ch sp, miss 2 tr and 2 dtr**, 6 dtr into next
picot5, rep from * to end, ending last rep at **, ss to top of
4 ch at beg of round. 144 dtr.
