Stewardship, A Way of Life “Tithing—God’s Plan for Giving”

Biblically a tithe means 10%. All are asked to consider tithing and return 10% of our income to the Lord (5% to the parish, 5% to your favorite charity). The spiritual practice of tithing disposes us to make God first in every area of our lives! The aim is to secure not the tithe, but the tither, not the gift, but the giver for God! July 21, 2019 In Pew Collection $10,957.00 (From 309 Households) Loose Cash $ 1,554.00 Online Giving $ 2,322.95 (From 45 Households)

Total Collection $14,833.95 July 15, 2018 $15,678.00

Currently, we have 1803 households.

Jesus assures us that if we ask, God will take care of what we need. The problem is that our culture often confuses what we really need with what we simply want. Many people need very little. However, we usually want so much more. A good steward only asks God for what he needs.

DIOCESAN ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

Thank you to all who have contributed to the Diocesan Annual Campaign so far. Of the 1803 families in the parish, 486 families have responded.

Parish Goal (Assessment): $182,200.00 Total pledged to Date: $131,293.00 Amount needed to reach Goal: $ 50,907.00

As you can see we are a long way from reaching our goal. It is not to late to make a gift and every contribution counts. Coupon books for donors who made pledges as of May 13, 3019 were mailed on Friday, June 7. Questions regarding the coupon books should be directed to the Office of Stewardship & Development at the Diocese, 717-657-4804, ext. 336. Thanks to all who have made a contribution. Thanks to those who will.

Father Neil Sullivan

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Jesus:

Here’s a quick look at the Saint who starts August off. August 1 is the Feast Day of Saint Alphonsus Liguori. He was born in 1696 near Naples, Italy. Alphonsus was what we call a “gi ed” student today. He was a lawyer by the me he was 16 years old! He came from a wealthy family in Naples, Italy, and had every advantage in life from the moment he was born in 1696. His parents were spiritually devoted people, and Alphonsus was taught that the greatest blessing he had been given was his faith. Alphonsus found that something was missing in his life and finally realized he was being called to the life of a priest. He studied theology and was ordained when he was 29. He became famous for his preaching which was simple, prac cal and straigh orward. He founded an or-der of priests called the Redemptorists who devote them-selves to serving the average working families and the poor.

Saint Alphonsus said that the greatest devo on on earth was the adora on of the Most Blessed Sacrament. How great that we on August 2 (First Friday) have adora on of the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Every-one is encouraged and welcomed to make a quick visit to our Lord and spend some quiet me with Him.

Happy and Holy August, everyone!

RCIA: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults The RCIA is the process of spiritual conversion and growth, over time, in one’s relationship with God and the Christian community. It is a faith journey where adults are fully welcomed into the Catholic Church or to complete their initiation into full membership in the Church. If you or someone you know is interested in exploring a relationship with Jesus Christ; inquiring about the Catholic Church; becoming Catholic; or being fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the celebration of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, WE WELCOME YOU! The RCIA classes will meet on Monday evenings, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the All Purpose Room, starting in September. Please call the Parish Office if you are interested. 717-761-1167.

I am interested in learning more about the Catholic Church in the RCIA Program.
