The range of microbalances and analytical balances

A shared resolution.Highest accuracy with thesmallest samples.

Weighing range electronically accurate to 0.0001 mg

Comprehensive product range with capacities up to 510 g

High-resolution models for smallest samples

proFACT for fully automatic calibration and linearity adjustment

MinWeigh for utmost certainty when weighing very small quantities

A new benchmark.METTLER TOLEDO has again setnew standards for analytical weigh-ing with its UMX and MX micro-balances and its AX analyticalbalances.

Safety factor.Sophisticated electronic circuitry, with high computing power, filtersout environmental disturbancesduring weighing, such as shakingand air circulation, more effectivelythan ever. This produces resultsat accuracies and speeds neverbefore achieved.

Automatic precision.Even the slightest environmentalinfluences such as temperature fluc-tuations affect the weighing results. The built-in proFACT automaticcalibration system counteracts this. When the balance goes outside settolerances, it uses built-in weightsto recalibrate itself fully automati-cally. At the same time linearizationis carried out over the entire weigh-ing range. This means that proFACTreduces your costs, because youcan forget those daily checks usingexternal weights.

Precious little.UMX, MX and AX balances offerhigh maximum loads at a mostaccurate readability down to0.1µg. This means that somemodels have up to 50 million divi-sions of resolution. So you canwork with even smaller samplesand easily comply with interna-tional regulations for a definedminimum allowable weight.

Minimal. Smaller mini-mum samples are possi-ble thanks to unprece-dented accuracies withthe additional inner draftshield on the AX balance.

Calibration. Fully automatic, thanks to proFACT. The AXlowers two built-in weightsautomatically onto theweighing pan, ensuring thatyou continue to weigh withoptimum precision at alltimes over the entire weigh-ing range.

Little difference. With Delta-Range models, a fine weigh-ing range with ten times theaccuracy of the regular rangeis recalled every time thebalance is tared within a cer-tain range. This is ideal whenusing heavy tare containersfor very small samples.

100% correct weighing results.MinWeigh warns unmistakablywith a weight symbol and graydisplay if the minimum weightallowed by international guide-lines is fallen below. Which en-sures that expensive substancesare used optimally and notwasted. You will find more informationabout MinWeigh on page 18.

“Today, particularly in the field ofmolecular biology, we work withextremely expensive substances andcompounds. There is therefore scopefor reducing costs, and we takeadvantage of balances such as thenew AX, MX and UMX fromMETTLER TOLEDO to do just this.It is fantastic how these balancesachieve the specified standarddeviations, even with the smallest ofsamples, and thus guarantee validweight measurements.”Taro Yamada, Lab Manager

Details count.Earlier models set new standardsa few years ago, and are todayregarded as the industry benchmark. Now the latest ultra-microbalancesand microbalances represent amarked improvement with newelectronics and fine honing of everydetail. Here again our aim was tofulfill the wishes and needs of users,or better, to exceed their expecta-tions.

Practical solutions.Despite the sophisticated and clevertechnology which is used to per-form a weighing operation with anunprecedented 50 million calibra-tion divisions, the concept of thishigh-end balance is completelypractical. Every detail bears witnessto this. As you work from onesample to the next, you will seethat the new METTLER TOLEDOUMX and MX microbalances aredesigned to boost efficiency, increase reliability and guaranteenetwork compatibility.

Reference class. The performance of UMX and MXbalances is already making themvalued instruments in metrologicalinstitutes for the certification ofweights. And their operation is justas simple and convenient as withanalytical balances.

Highly accurate differen-tial weighing. With areproducibility never beforeachieved. The filter setis designed for weighingthe finest traces of filterresidue (filters up to110 mm diameter).

“C’est magnifique, when the bestgets even better. Like with the newMX and UMX balances fromMETTLER TOLEDO. Now we canbe certain that we are obtainingvalid results even withminimum-weight samples.”Pier re Louvelqual i ty manager

Straightforwardcleaning. Simply removethe round glass draftshield by hand, and thebalance is easy to clean.

Minutest weighings. With the UMXbalances, samples of up to 5 g can beweighed to an accuracy of 0.1 µg.

Accessible from both sides. You can place objects in theweighing chamber from theleft or the right: the motor-ized draft shield can be op-erated hands-free, from thekeypad or by hand. In addi-tion, the glass draft shieldcover can be removed forapplications that require it.

AX semi-microbalances and analytical balances

Freedom of movement. With AX semi-microbalancesand analytical balances.

Practical considerations. These have led to the unequaleddesign of the draft shield on semi-microbalances and analyticalbalances. It can be opened com-pletely. Or only on the side preferredby left- or right-handed users. Or at one side only, for left- or right-handed operators. With hands-freeactuation or at the touch of a key,the doors slide open and shutautomatically. This is what wemean by convenience. But aboveall, efficiency.

Long-term decisions. The materials used to make thesebalances – glass, metal and per-formance polymers – are of thehighest quality. They are resistantto acids. Cleaning is easy, sincethere are virtually no awkwardgrooves or recesses. METTLERTOLEDO balances withstand therigors of intensive daily useundamaged.

Door opened on approach or by pressing a key

Automatic opening for left- or right-handed operation

Free access to weighing pan with no cross-struts

Rugged metal housing

Low-profile square weighing pan

Convenient operation. The display is easy to read, andthe keys are arranged for maxi-mum clarity. A generously dimen-sioned low-profile weighingpan allows you to rest your handon the benchtop when weighingin formulations. The weighingchamber is easy to clean.

“I can reach the weighing panfrom the side that suits me best.Being left-handed, that makes mylife a lot easier. And that’s thegreat thing about the AX – handyto use, just like I wanted.”Gisela Bender , lab technic ian

Detailed print-outs. ISO- and GLP-com-pliant reports printed by the GA42 onplain paper. It documents the calibrationprocedures initiated automatically by theAX together with the date, sample andidentification numbers, time of day, typeof instrument and serial number, andmarks a space for your signature.

Free access to weighingchamber. SmartSensopens the weighing cham-ber at the left, at the rightor entirely, depending onthe active configuration, when a hand approachesthe balance. The frontpane provides a protectionagainst radiant heat fromthe person working withthe balance.

Easy on the arm. Whendosing into low containersyou can rest your hand onthe benchtop, since theweighing pan is at such anunusually low level.

Free access to the weighingpan. The three-part draftshield can be opened as awhole, leaving no cross-strutsto obstruct access. However,it can also be opened only atthe top, left side or right sideto access the weighingchamber. So you only needto open the chamber justenough for the weighing taskconcerned.

Free access for robotarms. The generouslydimensioned weighingchamber, with no cross-struts, offers unobstructedaccess from three sideswhen required.

U ionizerUsable with practically all balances and weighingobjects, the ionization system comprises a U-shaped ionizer and a high-voltage power supplyunit. The object or container being weighed isdischarged by being passed through the U ionizerwhen loading the balance. The object beingweighed is neutralized. The neutralization processtakes only seconds. Although the ionizer uses ahigh voltage, it can be touched with absolutesafety. You will find more information about anti-static solutions in our separate brochure.
