October 14th 2016
We’ve had a very
special visitor in
school this week.
Helping us to launch our
year of fitness initiatives,
Chris Tomlinson, recently
retired Olympic long-jumper,
joined us for an afternoon of
sporting fun.
Chris led some gruelling fit-
ness circuits which the whole
school enjoyed and he then
inspired us all with his fasci-
nating story of Olympic
success.
See page 3 for more photos.
Class 1 Assembly
Find out why Zak and the other members of the School Council spent a day in the
forest this week...
Scarlett, Tornie and all of their friends in Class 1 shared their
fantastic work in assembly recently. The children were joined by
`Boris Bones’ who has been helping them to learn about their
bodies and how they work. You might spot him in the picture!
As well as showing their artwork, the children sang `Dem Bones’
and even played percussion instruments as they sang. Well done,
Class 1!

Sports Round Up
Chris Tomlinson put everyone through their paces with a series
of fitness circuits in the hall. Spotty dogs, push ups, star jumps and
press-ups were the order of the day!
Class 2 demonstrated their sporting talents at the multi-skills com-
petition in Whitby, whilst Class 4 took part in the Whitby `Rugby
Mega-Fest’ tournament.
The Y5/Y6 football team have been in action at Eskdale too. Great
performances from the team resulted in 3rd place for Seton, in the
medium schools category.
Special congratulations to Nevie who represented the school at
the Octoberfest cross-country competition.
More photos of our sporting events can be found on our website.

Dates for your diary
Class 3 had a competition connect-
ed with their book, A Midsummer
Night’s Dream.
They were asked to create a Titania or
Puck from the story. The winners, Nevie,
Lilly and Charlotte are shown with their fan-
tastic creations.
Liam’s work is featured in our `Good Work
Corner’ this week. His diary entry is
inspired by Class 3’s Stone Age topic.
One really boring day in the
Stone Age, we had to go fish-
ing, kill animals and cook tea.
For tea we had mammoth and
deer. It was brilliant. After
that, I went for a walk. Then I
went to bed. I woke up, I had
my breakfast, then went to
climb a tree. After I climbed
down, a spear fell from the sky.
I ran home and told my mum
what happened. She was
surprised.
“Give it to your father,” she
yelled.
“Ok,” I said. I did not really. I
showed Otter. He was happy,
because now we can play
hunting with it. Next, we
made wooden people to keep
us company. After we finished
I took one to my room to keep
forever, so I can remember it.
That is the end of my day.

Playground updates
You may have noticed the very unsightly warning tape around our trim-trail equipment in
the main playground .
Unfortunately the area has had to be cordoned off to enable us to arrange for essential
maintenance work to take place.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
We have also found deliberate damage has been caused to our goal posts which are on the
school field. This damage took place outside school hours. Could we ask that anyone who
sees trespassers on the school field please contact the local police immediately on 101?
