Windows XP are as follows:
Standard Installation or attended
Network Installation.
Automated Installation.

Standard InstallationThe most likely method used by home and
small business users.
During Standard installation, the user
remains at the computer to supplyinformation that is needed by Windows.
This type of installation can be started
using a bootable floppy or XP bootable CD.

Network Installation
Network installation is another type of
method where Windows XP file are located
on a network share.
Network installation remove the need forthe user to have an installation CD
Winnt.exe can be used for installing XP
from 16-bit (Dos) application.Winnt32.exe can be used for installing XPfrom 32-bit application.

Automated Installation
Automated installation is one that does notrequire a user to provide information duringsetup.
There are two methods for automatedinstallation
Unattended Installation
Remote Installation Service

Unattended Installation
An unattended installation an administrator
uses a program called setup manager to
specify answers to many of the options thatare required during setup .
Setup Manager creates a text file called
answer file from which windows XP setup
can pull the information.

Remote InstallationService
Remote Installation Service allows user to
install the operating systems from RIS
Server.
PXE-Boot Rom IC is required for remote
installation.
or
Remote Boot floppy with a network card
supported for remote installation.

Disk Duplication
Windows XP includes a program named
System Preparation Tool ( SysPrep.exe)
that allows administrators to prepareimages of a Windows XP installation.
Using the created image administrator can
install that image in all other machines
which has identical hardware.

Multiple boot installation is a one in which
multiple operating systems are installed on
the computer.
