Session 1

• Definition of culture: discuss it during 15 minutes with the students.

• Culture refers to the sum of knowledge, experience, beliefs, religion, roles, concepts of the universe , arts … acquired by a group of people in the course of generations through individual and group striving.

• It includes: religion, customs, politics, gender role, marriage and family traditions,...

• Forming 5 groups: writing all the students names on small papers and draw five papers each time and the five students will group together. ( 5 min )

• Objective of the team work: talk about one aspect of culture and tell us the differences and the similarities between the Lebanese and the KSA culture.

• Authentic materials:

• created a group on Facebook under the name of “grade 7 school” where already students, of the same age from KSA, have become members there.

• Giving the role to the students in the group(5 students) ( 5 min )

1. two students to chat online with KSA students 2.one student that will bring the information about KSA 3. one student will bring information about Lebanon 4.one student bring the appropriate pictures

• The choice of the aspects will be through pictures that a student form each group has to pick.( 5 min )

• The teacher has to go round and check if the students had discovered the aspect.( 20 min )
