PRogRAm oBjECtivES At the conclusion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

• Describe best practice techniques in unilateral and bilateral cases of breast reconstruction with the TRAM flap, simultaneous removal of breast implants and augmentation with fat grafting, and breast augmentation with mastopexy using acellular dermal matrix and shaped breast implants.

• Analyze the evidence for the use of fat grafting to the breast, use of acellular dermal matrix and new synthetic substitutes, and the use of shaped breast implants for breast augmentation and reconstruction.

• Review trends and best-practice techniques in mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery and breast reconstruction including tissue expanders, direct to implant reconstruction, latissimus flaps, TRAM flaps, and microsurgical SIEA and DIEP Flaps, and nipple reconstruction.

• Evaluate a variety of techniques used in aesthetic breast surgery including breast reduction, mastopexy, augmentation, and prevention and correction of complications including rippling and capsular contracture.

• Apply this new knowledge to their practice in appropriate patients.
